  1. Pitch inspection in Leedspublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 164-5

Similar to Chester-le-Street as the umpires at Headingley have advised an early lunch to be taken at 12:30 BST with a pitch inspection at 13:10.

    Patience will be required!

  2. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 28-0 v Essex 253

Sam Cook gets Ben Duckett nibbling away outside his off stump, Adam Rossington throws the ball up in the air but all that happens is the opener trundles around his crease remonstrating with himself.

Two balls later, Duckett is getting a replacement bat after a leg-side hoick seems to cause him a problem.

He gets a choice of three to pick from, and it does the trick as he flays a cut to the boundary off the next delivery.

  3. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 11-0 v Somerset

Jake Ball is into his fourth over as a Somerset bowler.

There has been one boundary from Ben Compton but otherwise it has been rather tidy stuff.

In fact, the last four overs from Ball and Josh Davey have not seen a run and Compton's partner Tawanda Muyeye is still looking for his first run after 19 balls.

  4. wicket

WICKET Leach c Yates b Rushworth 11published at 11:37 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 339-9

    Gone this time!

Chris Rushworth ends the Joe Leach cameo with a ball that bounces and leaves the batter outside off stump.

Leach is squared up on the crease, edging the ball to Rob Yates off the shoulder of the bat.

That's a fine slip catch, taken above head height and Warwickshire are one strike away from wrapping up the innings.

Adam Finch is the Pears number 11.

  5. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 22-0 v Essex 253

Jamie Porter overpitches outside off and Ben Duckett's eyes light up - he slaps the seamer through the offside for another boundary.

The pitch is shifted a bit over to one side iof the square, but Duckett had no problems piercing the longer side of the ground there.

Porter then drops short outside off and Haseeb Hameed pokes him away behind point for four off the back foot.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Luke Procterpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 128-2

A fine start to the season for the Northants captain, who has looked comfortable at the crease today.

He reaches a deserved half century off 130 balls with a drive down the ground off Robinson for his fifth four.

That's his 36th half century in first-class cricket.

  7. 'Smith will be a bit angry with himself'published at 11:34 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 338-8

    Brian Halford
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Nathan Smith will be a bit angry with himself because it was a half volley, it wasn't a great delivery and he really could have put it anywhere but he picked out Dan Mousley.

It was a good sharp low catch by Mousley, but Warwickshire have the breakthrough.

  8. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 338-8

OHD is again struggling for his best rhythm as the crosswind compels him to abort his run up.

The second ball of his 22nd over is back of a length with enough width for Joe Leach to swing the ball over the slips off the outside edge for four.

    Streaky shot, to be honest.

  9. 6 runs

Seales put to the swordpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 122-2

Shot! Loose ball from Jayden Seales at the start of his first spell this morning.

Short, wide and flayed by Karun Nair over point for six!

That's the 50 partnership with Procter in 119 balls.

The second ball is also short and wide, giving Nair plenty of room to scythe the ball through extra cover for four.

  10. 400 up for Glamorganpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 400-3

Colin Ingram tucks one into the legside and that brings up the 400 and his team's fourth batting point.

They have just over seven overs to get 50 more to claim the fifth batting point.

And don't worry about Sam Northeast losing concentration. He made a PB of 410 against Leicestershire in 2022!

  11. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 13-0 v Essex 253

Ben Duckett clips Jamie Porter off his pads and the ball skims away for his first four of the day.

  12. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 112-2

Ollie Robinson is a tad leg side and Karun Nair turns the bowler behind square for a single.

Four slips in again for Luke Procter, who is forward to drive down the ground but Robinson blocks it for no run.

Robinson is round the wicket to Procter, who deflects a leg side ball fine for a single.

Three slips and a short mid off in for Nair, who is on the back foot driving through the off side for a single.

Steady start for Northants so far.

  13. Postpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 9-0 v Essex 253

Lovely stuff from Haseeb Hameed as he drives Sam Cook past cover for the first boundary of the Notts innings.

It's compare and contrast as the former England opener swipes horribly at the next one, but it misses the edge.

  14. 'Bears won't want Pears to get 400'published at 11:24 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 329-8

    Brian Halford
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Warwickshire started slowly yesterday but late wickets put them back in the game.

They won't want to let their local rivals get to 400 though, on a pitch likely to turn as the game lengthens.

  15. 200 runs

    Take a bow, Sam Northeast!

He pushes one into the covers to get the single he needs to bring up a double ton. What a start to the season.

He has batted for 279 balls and hit 23 fours in this terrific innings.

  16. wicket

WICKET Smith c Mousley b Rushworth 4published at 11:20 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warws v Worcs 325-8

Smith picks up a boundary with a deft back foot dab through cover - but that's his lot.

Three balls later he's on his way, as Rushworth bowls full on leg stump and Smith taps it straight to Mousley at mid wicket.

Early breakthrough for the hosts, who could've hardly imagined keeping the Pears under 400 after the fluency of much of the batting yesterday.

Joe Leach is the Pears number 10.

  17. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 104-2

Four slips in now for Ollie Robinson, who bowls with good carry but also enough width for Procter to leave.

    Another maiden over.

Robinson will be a bit frustrated with his line there.

  18. Duckett and Hameed open up for Nottspublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 2-0 v Essex 253

Notts' openers are all set, which means captain Haseeb Hameed and our first sighting of England's Ben Duckett since Dharamshala last month.

Hameed takes the first delivery from Jamie Porter - and it's a no-ball to open Notts' account.

  19. Pitch inspection at 13:10 BSTpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 6 April

    Durham v Hampshire

The overnight rain has really hampered the chances of cricket on day two at Chester-le-Street.

The umpires have decided on an early lunch at 12:30 BST, with their next inspection to take place 40 minutes later at 13:10.

  20. Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 104-2

Ollie Robinson begins his workload today with a maiden over.

At the other end, Northants captain Luke Procter takes his team to 100 with a back foot drive through cover for one.

Karun Nair is confidently forward to the off spinner with a flashing drive through wide mid off for four.
