  1. Box Hill climbpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The lead riders are just heading up Box Hill now with Jelle Wallays leading the seven.

It should be said conditions are absolutely idyllic out there. This is what you imagine a British summer to be like.

  2. Froome watchpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

We're just looking back at what remains of the peloton.

Chris Froome is back there and he doesn't look to be overly exerting himself.

He said earlier that a victory today would be "nice" but he's going to have to be content with just getting through safely now.

  3. One from seven?published at 17:07 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

It looks like today's winner is going to come from this front group of seven.

Team Sky have never won the event before but with Geraint Thomas and Ian Stannard very well-placed that wait could come to an end today.

  4. Chasers hit the frontpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The chasing group of three are now right up there with the four-man breakaway, which, by my maths, means we now have a seven-man breakaway.

The peloton is just short of three minutes behind.

    64km to go.

  6. Four becomes threepublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The riders at the front are working really hard as they go up a series of inclines.

Jempy Drucker, of camel selfie fame (see 15:53 BST entry), is up in the leading group of four and he is looking for a second successive win in this race.

Meanwhile, the chasing group of four is now a chasing group of three consisting of Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard and Pat Bevin.

  7. 'Wonderful day for a bike race'published at 16:49 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    Simon Brotherton
    BBC Sport commentator

It's a wonderful day for a bike race.

The four leaders are likely to have some company before too long.

There's 71km to go and Team Sky have taken people by surprise here.

  8. State of playpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The breakaway, which is now down to four men, has a lead of less than a minute on the chasers.

The chasing group is also made up of four men and they have opened up a growing lead over the rest, which includes Chris Froome.

That move from Thomas has totally changed the shape of this race.

  9. Froome on his ownpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

That move from Geraint Thomas has really opened up the race and the breakaway's lead is down to just over one minute.

Chris Froome is probably about 500m behind his Team Sky team-mates Ian Stannard and Thomas.

  10. 'Thomas is flying'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

BBC Sport commentator Simon Brotherton has just said "Thomas is flying" and it's hard to argue with him.

The Welshman has left the peloton trailing in his wake.

Chris Froome has followed the move of his Team Sky team-mate.

  11. Thomas opening up the racepublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The break-out led by Geraint Thomas has really opened up this race.

The gap to the peloton is now down to less than 90 seconds.

  12. Peloton closing inpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

The six-man breakaway's lead is down to just over two minutes.

Team Sky are leading the chase at the front of the peloton with Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift leading the way.

    89km to go...

The mayor of London has got into the spirit of the day.

Sadiq Khan told BBC Sport: "It's the world's biggest cycling festival.

"We are going to make it safer and easier for people to ride across our great city.

"I think I could beat Boris Johnson but I don't know about Chris Froome!

"I'll have to compete next year but I don't know in which race yet."

Khan's predecessor Johnson completed the 100-mile event in 2013.

Team Sky are still doing the majority of the work at the front of the peloton as we go into the final 100km.

Three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome looked relaxed during the race's enforced pause earlier on but he's working hard now.

The gap to the six-man breakaway remains a shade under three minutes.

  17. Webber heralds 'mind-blowing' eventpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

Former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber competed in the 100-mile route earlier.

He told BBC Sport: "It was mind-blowing.

"I love my outdoor sports and it was never a chore for me to keep fit.

"It was the perfect weather and it was absolutely mega."

  18. Team Rwanda caught up in crashpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

We just briefly saw some shots of a crash at the back of the peloton.

Hard to see which riders were caught up in it but there looked to be a few from Team Rwanda in there.

    Hopefully it was nothing serious.

  19. Drucker looking for repeatpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

Luxembourg rider Jempy Drucker is looking to win the race for a second time after winning it last year.

He's one of the six in the breakaway from the peloton.

Not sure if he's brought his beloved camel with him today.

  20. Quick recappublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

Just in case you hadn't seen earlier we're running a little bit behind because the race was briefly paused on police advice on public safety grounds.

There was a backlog of riders on the route caused by a couple of bad crashes earlier in the day.

Hopefully it'll be plain sailing from here on in.
