Tour de France winner Chris Froome is competing in the event for the first time.

Prior to the race he told BBC Sport: "I can't wait to get out there today.

"Given the Tour de France we've just had it's nice to be able to come out and say thanks to our fans.

"This will be our last hit-out before we head to Rio. It would be nice to compete for victory."

We have six riders in the breakaway at the moment as we approach the final 125km.

Dexter Gardias, Matthew Holmes, Jelle Wallays, Jean-Pierre Drucker, Jonatan Lastra, Jonas Rickaert lead the way with a gap of about three minutes and 30 seconds on the peloton.

Team Sky, featuring three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome, head the chasing pack.

Live coverage has just started on BBC One so stick the telly on, put your feet up and let the riders (and, to a lesser extent, me) do the work this Sunday afternoon.

  3. Race back under waypublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

Bit of news to bring you since we stopped our live text coverage.

The race was briefly paused because of a backlog of riders on the route caused by a couple of bad crashes earlier in the day.

The leaders restarted at 14:55 BST with the peloton setting off four minutes behind.

You can view live coverage using the play button above and the race goes live on BBC1 at 15:30 BST. See you then!

It's been an exceptional weekend, the sheer number of people who have donned lycra and got on the saddle has been heartwarming.

We'll be taking a short break, but live text will return right here alongside live BBC One coverage of the RideLondon-Surrey Classic at 15:30 BST, with Chris Froome hoping to put a smile on his fans' faces.

In the meantime you can keep abreast of the race either through the red button, or via the live feed above.

Thank you very much for enjoying the festivities alongside me over the last two days, and enjoy the rest of your weekend

Emily Mayers is riding today, and she spoke to BBC Get Inspired beforehand about the reasons why she decided to take on the RideLondon 100 mile challenge.

"Since loosing my Mum to ovarian cancer in 2010, I have raised nearly £10,000 through various events for Ovarian Cancer Action," she said.

"I am fairly new to cycling and although pretty fit through my running, road cycling initially petrified me. Not one to give in to fear, I thought I'd sign up to ride 100 miles,
