    Yep, Rene Meulensteen has got his man. Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou had been looking forward to facing Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League but now he has opted for a Premier League relegation fight instead, signing a four-and-a-half year deal at Craven Cottage after Fulham agreed to pay the Greek team upwards of £11m for his services.

    "I understand Kostas Mitroglou has opted for Fulham ahead of West Ham United.

    With the bottom half of the table so congested, and the title race so compelling, everyone will be on the lookout today for a striker.

    If the right man can be found for the right price, expect some movement. But is signing a striker in January a good move?

    The 11 forwards signed by Premier League clubs last January managed 23 goals in 108 games between them before the end of the season.

    Not bad? Maybe - until you realise that Daniel Sturridge (10 goals for Liverpool) and Loic Remy (six for QPR) scored the lion's share of those.

    Norwich's swoop for Kei Kamara and Luciano Becchio (one goal in 19 appearances between them) wasn't so hot...

    The 24-year-old has been brought in as cover because Johnny Maddison is suffering from suspected appendicitis.

    One Watford player who is going nowhere is defender Fitz Hall. He has a signed a new contract to remain at Vicarage Road until the end of the season.

    Here's the news Baggies fans have been waiting for... West Bromwich Albion boss Pepe Mel has confirmed his interest in Espanyol striker Thievy Bifouma.

    The 21-year-old scored 11 goals in 38 appearances for Segunda Division side Las Palmas last season but only has four in La Liga this season.

    BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett: "In Spain, La Liga title challengers Atletico Madrid may be about to join the deadline day fun.

    "Spanish newspaper "AS" and German football magazine "Kicker" are reporting that Brazil international Diego could be returning to the club from Wolfsburg.

    Diego was on loan at Atletico during the 2011-2012 season. The 28 year-old has also played for Juventus, FC Porto and Werder Bremen."

    In terms of moves that have already happened, Chelsea have signed St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma, Fulham have snapped up Tottenham's Lewis Holtby on loan and Crystal Palace have swooped for Wolves keeper Wane Hennessey.

    The Manchester Evening News, external are reporting that a private jet from Porto is due to touch down at Manchester Airport at 3.23pm today - and was only booked to land at the airport within the past 24 hours.

    Will Porto's pair of Manchester City targets Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando be on board? I guess we will find out in about half an hour...
