  1. Blackburn Rovers updatepublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

BBC Sport's Andy Cryer: "The clock is ticking for Crystal Palace to complete the signing of Blackburn skipper Scott Dann. Dann is in London to discuss personal terms but the two clubs are still some way apart on agreeing a fee. Blackburn will not sell the defender on the cheap."

How influential are agents when it comes to last-minute sudden signings? Cliff B

"They're touting players around, speaking to various clubs - I'd imagine that one player can be put to several clubs throughout the league, just to see if they can keep the business going, and to generate interest in the players. All of a sudden if you put in a certain name to so many different clubs, maybe someone will bite and say "yeah, we'll take him"- and that's how it works.

"Agents are very influential now. They're the first port of call for clubs, whereas say 20 to 30 years ago, a club would go direct to another club and ask if they could negotiate a deal. Now it's always that middle-man.

"Agents have a huge part to play in football, both from the player's side and perhaps even more so from the clubs as they employ an agent to go out and recruit, even if it's not one of their own players. That's how it is now."

  4. Everton updatepublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty

After completing the signing of teenage goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek from Sparta Prague, I have been told Everton are currently exploring other deals - and the likelihood of this could be the arrival of a midfield player on loan. No names yet as a number of options being looked into.

  5. Palace Ince closer to another deal?published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

News of another Crystal Palace signing to go with Wayne Hennessey, Jason Puncheon and, potentially, Joe Ledley? Sort of...

Crystal Palace technical coach David Kemp is taking on press duties this afternoon and he says: "Tom Ince is close but I'm not in those negotiations so I don't know where that's at.

"On this day in particular, a lot can go on. I'd like to say it's going to happen but you never know in football."

What is the most stressful part about deadline day, and why? Rian Hoskins

"I've moved twice on deadline day. The first time, I moved from Sunderland to Everton it was around the first few transfer windows. There was an offer for me from Southampton a month or two before. I thought I was going to move, but it didn't happen. Then, as the deadline day loomed, I had a call saying I was going to be going on loan to Everton. Mick McCarthy, the Sunderland manager, didn't want it going ahead - it was a permanent deal or nothing. That deal was on and off probably six or seven times that day and I didn't think it would eventually go through. I had to sign via fax at Sunderland as I couldn't do the mileage down to Everton to do the deal.

"It can be quite stressful for families as well. You think about who's moving a player on and where he's coming from but everyone has wives, girlfriends and children. Do you then have to re-direct your children to a different school? It can be quite difficult."

  8. DONE DEALpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

Notts County have signed former Derby and Doncaster defender Gareth Roberts on a deal until the end of the season, reports BBC Radio Nottingham.

The 35-year-old left-back has played more than 500 league appearances since starting his career as a trainee at Liverpool, and has won nine Wales caps.

Is the World Cup influencing transfers? Udeme Bassey

"I think it is. We see it now with Nikica Jelavic - the first thing he said is he wants to be playing first-team football and that's why he moved to Hull until the end of the season. He's probably going to a good club with a good manager, but that's not the issue. He's thinking I want to play in the World Cup and I want to have played 15-20 games at the end of the season going into that World Cup. Certainly this time of the year a player would push through a move simply with that in mind."

  10. Swansea updatepublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

BBC Sport's Luke Reddy: "Swansea City will complete the signing of 19-year-old Falkirk midfielder Jay Fulton later today. The Welsh club are also continuing to negotiate with a number of clubs with a view to signing a wide player."

  11. Liverpool updatepublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

    BBC Sport

Liverpool fans, are you wondering what is happening with the Reds' attempts to sign FC Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka? Here is BBC Sport's Juliette Ferrington to tell us more:

"He is still in his press conference ahead of Sunday's game against West Brom but Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says there is no update on deal, and that it is a little complicated.

"Rodgers says: 'If we improve the group in this window then great. If not, I'm happy to go with what we've got.'"

Do you think Fifa and Uefa should stop big teams like Chelsea and Man City buying more players when they've already got a big squad in this transfer window? Hits Joshi

"I think we know the facts of the Financial Fair Play rules but it's more about the intricacies of it and how clubs manipulate the rules. We can see that clubs are blatantly bending those rules so we may get to a point in two or three years' time when it becomes more of an issue. I think the way football is now and the way the transfer deadline itself is creating huge interest, it's all good for the game.

"Ultimately I think we'll always see that the big clubs with the biggest financial power are always going to be making the big signings because they can, unless something can be done to regulate it. Football clubs can't continue to overspend year after year after year because we're going to see more of them going to the wall - it has that knock on-effect through the leagues."

This one is not quite like a player leaving Tottenham to join Arsenal but, if you live in Herefordshire or Worcestershire, it is close... Kidderminster Harriers have signed midfielder Josh O'Keefe from financially troubled local rivals Hereford United for an undisclosed fee.

  16. Kevin Kilbane Q&Apublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

We've been putting your Twitter questions on deadline day to former Everton and Sunderland winger Kevin Kilbane. Check out his answers:

Do you think it has been a good or bad transfer window? Luco Carter

"I think at this time of the year I can't say it's ever going to be a great transfer window. For the top clubs, the ones challenging for the lead, it's just one or two players that can make the difference. You look at United and Juan Mata and it suddenly looks a bit rosier for United.

"You see the other teams in and around them signing players who might make a difference, even looking as far down as, say, Hull City, who bring in two strikers. So if you look throughout the league, I think probably most clubs will say they're happy.

"I think in general we're seeing one or two smaller-scale deals going through at clubs which will help in their quest to stay in the Premier League or qualify for the Champions League and European football."

  18. Fernando heading to Man City?published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

Some news for Manchester City fans now, from BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett, and it sounds (fairly) promising:

"FC Porto head coach Paulo Fonseca has been speaking about Manchester City transfer target Fernando in his Friday press conference.

"Fonseca says Fernando is 'a major player in the team, but he's not irreplaceable'."

Manchester City have targeted Fernando and his team mate, midfielder Eliaquim Mangala, in a double deadline day deal.

These deals just keep on dropping, don't they? News from BBC Radio Lincolnshire now...

Lincoln City have completed the signing of Crewe defender Thierry Audel on a month's loan. It's unclear whether a deal for striker Delano Sam Yorke from Cambridge United will go ahead but his teammate Mitch Austin is set to extend his loan spell until April.

  20. DONE DEALpublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2014

Crystal Palace have confirmed the permanent signing of Jason Puncheon from Southampton. The 27-year-old initially moved to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan in the summer.
