Only two players have scored a hat-trick on their debut for the club; Charles Sagar against Bristol City in 1905 and Wayne Rooney against Fenerbahce in 2004. What a hit! Matty Fryatt hauls Hull back into the contest almost immediately with a stunning 25-yard effort which flies past David De Gea.

He can't do anything wrong! Teenage debutant James Wilson bags his second of the night with a simple tap-in. Adnan Januzaj is the creator with a silky run down the right and the winger squares for the luckless Marouane Fellaini who finds the keeper from 10 yards out and Wilson tucks in the rebound like all good strikers should. Maybe Fellaini can console himself with an assist?

Manchester United are building up a little head of steam now as they bring their wingers into play and stand up a cross to the back stick which is just nipped off the head of Marouane Fellaini in the nick of time.

More exciting wing-play from Adnan Januzaj sees the Belgian skip away from Curtis Davies before being stopped in his tracks by David Meyler's superbly-timed challenge in the penalty area. Being on a yellow card, he had to get that one right.

Ryan Giggs chats away to Nicky Butt on his left and then leans forward to have a word in the ear of Phil Neville. "I'm going to warm up in a minute lads," he possibly said.

Adnan Januzaj is proving to be a real handful this evening and when he finds himself in a central area with a sight of goal, he puts his foot through the ball and brings a decent save out of Hull keeper Eldin Jakupovic.

The Hull midfielder is booked and, from the resulting free-kick, the ball is eventually worked in the direction of James Wilson who tries an audacious overhead kick but the ball trickles wide.
