Here are some of your thoughts on where Wayne Rooney should play on the BBC Sport Facebook page:, external

Chaz Surette:, external Second striker/false 9, something like that. Let him create chances for the likes of Sturridge and give him the opportunity to score some goals.

Martin Gitonga:, external Rooney is the only world class player in that squad.

Wolfgang C. Bailey:, external Number 10 or as the main striker. I'd stick Barkley in the 10 position and Sterling and Lallana on the wings.

BBC Sport Wales' Bruce Pope reports: "Wales should feel right at home in the Amsterdam Arena this evening, where the sliding roof will make it feel like the little brother of the Millennium Stadium back in Cardiff."

Ten minutes to go until we see whether Wales - minus Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey - can get comfy in Amsterdam. You can watch that match in the video at the top of this page.

"England's team is as expected but manager Roy Hodgson will surely want to have a good look at Liverpool's Raheem Sterlng over these next two friendlies against Ecuador and Honduras."

England's skipper for the evening, Frank Lampard, could be based in the United States on a more permanent basis in the future.

The 35-year-old midfielder says he is considering a move to Major League Soccer in the United States after leaving Chelsea.

But he will not make a decision until after the World Cup campaign in Brazil.

"America is an option," he says. " I'm looking at different options but I want to carry on playing."

  5. Opportunity knockspublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

So, as we knew, Roy Hodgson has named an experimental XI to start against Ecuador. The Three Lions boss makes 10 changes from the team which began the 3-0 win against Peru - only Wayne Rooney starts again.

Opportunity knocks for the likes of Raheem Sterling and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Can anyone make a late burst into Hodgson's side to face the Italians?

  6. Breaking England team newspublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

Here we go. Pigeon carriers have just dropped the team news into BBC Sport Towers from across the Atlantic. Youngsters Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley make their full England debuts.

England starting XI: Foster, Milner, Shaw, Jones, Smalling, Lampard, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barkley, Rooney, Lambert.

Phoenixville:, external If England cope well with harsh Miami weather I can guarantee they will do better in Brazil.

Freddie Eggleton:, external I think Milner at RB could be a perfect fit, has shown he has defensive qualities but is often not attacking enough to play winger.

Adil:, external Really like the idea of Milner at RB. Reminds me of when Van Bronckhorst moved into L.B for Holland, has the style for it.

"Fans starting to file into Miami's Sun Life Stadium and already the yellow colours of Ecuador are very much in evidence. The conditions are typical of this season - hot, humid and with rain in the air.

"England manager Roy Hodgson makes wholesale changes and the experiment of playing James Milner at right-back in intriguing given Liverpool defender Glen Johnson's poor display in the 3-0 win against Peru at Wembley on Friday."

  9. Get involvedpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

Andy in Banbury on text: I think it's extraordinary that Welbeck and Rooney are being talked about as starters after poor seasons, whereas Sterling and Barkley, who have been incredible, have to warm the bench. Despite this season, the "Man Utd bias" is still alive it seems.

Hull defender James Chester wins his first cap for Wales, while Newcastle left-back Paul Dummett, who could make his debut, starts on the bench. Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is injured, while Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is rested.

World Cup-bound Netherlands select Manchester United striker Robin van Persie in attack with midfielders Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben also in the starting XI.

England not your cup of tea? Then, you can watch all the action from Amsterdam instead. The live video of that match - the Netherlands's final game before they fly out to Brazil - has magically appeared at the top of this page.

George on text: My England 1st XI would be: Hart, Baines, Jagielka, Cahill, Milner, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Lallana, Barkley, Sturridge. Rooney hasn't shone and Johnson's lazy approach is a liability.

  13. Team newspublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

Perhaps Roy wouldn't be any good with a straight flush in his hand. Because he also let slip that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will line up in an unfamiliar position on the left-wing, as the Scouser builds up his match fitness after an injury-hit end to the Premier League season.

There has been plenty of pub/office/social media chat over Rooney's best position in the England team. Some have even suggested the man who bagged seven goals in eight qualifying matches should not start against the Italians.

  14. Team newspublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

Roy Hodgson kept his cards closer to his chest than a poker player when he was asked about his team selection to face the Ecuadorians.

However, he did admit that it will look rather different to the side which beat Peru at Wembley on Friday. We know Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will skipper an experimental team in Steven Gerrard's absence, with Manchester City winger James Milner dropping in to an unfamiliar right-back role.

Full team news will arrive from across the pond shortly.

  16. The heat is onpublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

In 10 days' time, the Three Lions roar into action against opening Group D opponents Italy in the Brazilian city of Manaus.

Based in the heart of the Amazon jungle, the "City of the Forest" is hot and humid - unlike Sunderland or St Albans. Hence, the week-long stay in Miami, where the players have been sent to acclimatise by Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson led Switzerland at the 1994 World Cup and recently revealed how his players prepared for the heat of the United States - by using a sauna.

"Compare that to what we are doing now and it was an unbelievably amateurish performance," recalls the 66-year-old. You said it Roy.

England may be the only British side going to Brazil, but they are not the only team in action tonight....

BBC Sport Wales' Bruce Pope reports: "Wales run out in Amsterdam tonight without their two leading stars, with Gareth Bale injured and Aaron Ramsey rested, plus a defence shorn of skipper Ashley Williams, Ben Davies and James Collins.

"Their absence is a blow to Netherlands' Manchester United-bound boss Louis van Gaal, who has pointed out it is not the test he was hoping for just nine days before the Dutch start their World Cup campaign against holders Spain."
