1, external: If Glen Johnson doesn't turn up the right-back place will be there for the taking for Chris Smalling or Phil Jones

William, external: Quality team, maybe one change for the Italy game, but has Raheem Sterling blown his chance?

Liam, external: This England line-up could very much be the one playing in Manaus in a week's time. But I would have Ross Barkley in for Danny Welbeck.

So, what of Honduras? Luis Fernando Suarez's side beat the United States and Mexico on their way to qualifying for their third World Cup. Los Catrachos face France, Switzerland and Ecuador in Group E and could, potentially, face England in the quarter-finals in Brazil.

Ranked 33 in the world, their World Cup squad includes five British-based players - Wigan duo Juan Garcia and Roger Espinoza, Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre, Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios and Hull defender Maynor Figueroa.

Honduras manager Suarez is no stranger to England. He guided Ecuador to the last 16 of the 2006 World Cup before losing to David Beckham's goal in Stuttgart as England reached the quarter-finals.

What's rain? It's T-shirt weather in Miami and England fans are in a party mood as they mix with Honduras supporters outside the Sun Life Stadium. Swelled by a decent number from Miami's Honduran population, officials are expecting about 20,000 for this game.

This time next week England will be gearing up to face Italy in Manaus in their first World Cup game - and their final warm-up game will be played in searing heat here at Miami's Sun Life Stadium.

Italy's draw with Luxembourg this week extended their winless streak to seven games but England manager Roy Hodgson is not fooled - and also believes next week's opponents will be unconcerned by that statistic.

He said: "I would think it is very dangerous to read anything into that. If you're going to go down that route, be careful because I worked in Italy, I know the Italian mentality, I know the Italian players."

oliverdawnay, external: Ross Barkley should be playing and Jack Wilshere too in the middle with Steven Gerrard. I think he is more dynamic than Jordan Henderson.

Lochte, external: Phil Jones should be playing right-back.

Mark, external: I would like to see Ross Barkley play in that central attacking midfield role. So much flair.

Roy Hodgson makes 10 changes to the side that was held to a 2-2 draw by Ecuador, with Wayne Rooney the only survivor. It is the same side that started the 3-0 friendly win over Peru on 30 May. Roy is not messing about. He has picked the strongest team available to him.

We tend to make a big deal out of injuries. But every single team at the World Cup will have injury problems. Diego Costa has a problem, Franck Ribery is missing for France, Colombia striker Radamel Falcao is not going to make it and Uruguay's Luis Suarez has got a problem.

I would leave Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the squad because there is no like-for-like replacement. With a medial knee ligament, sometimes after a week or so you can start to play through it. You can catch it now and again and it hurts, for five or 10 seconds you get that shooting pain and then you can get through it.

  11. World Cup crocks XIpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 7 June 2014

It's not just England who have been disrupted by injury. So many heavyweights have lost key players in the last few days that it won't be long before fans are able name a 2014 World Cup crocks XI.

Definitely ruled out: Winger Franck Ribery (France), striker Radamel Falcao (Colombia), midfielder Roman Shirkov (Russia) and midfielder Marco Reus (Germany). In addition, Uruguay continue to sweat over striker Luis Suarez's involvement. England, it appears, have got off lightly... so far.

No World Cup build-up would be complete without a major injury concern for England. After all, then captain Rio Ferdinand missed the 2010 tournament after suffering ligament damage to his left knee in the team's first training session in South Africa.

Gary Neville missed the 2002 tournament with a metatarsal, while there were injury scares involving David Beckham (2002) and Wayne Rooney (2006). Older fans will remember Bryan Robson (above) dislocating a shoulder in a warm-up game ahead of Mexico '86. Although he travelled to the finals, he aggravated it after four minutes of the 0-0 draw with Morocco which curtailed his participation.

The Three Lions haven't even reached Brazil yet, but they have already lost midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to a knee injury that has ruled him out of the Italy match. No wonder Roy Hodgson will be keeping everything crossed that everyone emerges unscathed against Honduras.

Can Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge excel together? Should Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley start against Italy? Who should partner Steven Gerrard in midfield? Can England's defence cope with the world's best?

So many questions, so little time before that big game against Italy. At least a meeting with Honduras in the Sun Life Stadium in Miami provides 'Mr Roy' with a chance to find an answer or two before boarding the team plane to Brazil after this match.

Tick tock. Time waits for no man, especially when there is a World Cup to be won, and the clock is ticking towards the start of England's eagerly awaited campaign. There's just another 10,256 minutes to wait or a fraction under 171 hours before they kick-off against the Azzurri.

This time next week all the talking will be over and preparations for their opening Group D game in the Arena Amazonia will be complete. But before then England need to ensure they arrive in Brazil in the right frame of mind.

What happens in their first ever match against Honduras could have a bearing on that. Having swept aside Peru at Wembley on 30 May, they found Ecuador tough opposition in the Miami heat on Wednesday. Can Roy's boys crack Los Catrachos and send their fans to Brazil dancing to the samba rhythm?
