  2. CLOSE!published at 19:58 British Summer Time 12 August 2014

Just two minutes have passed at Hillsborough and already Sheffield Wednesday have the lead against Notts County courtesy of a corker from Jacques Maghoma, who rifles into the top corner from just outside the penalty area.

Rotherham's League Cup game against Fleetwood is well under way but there is one very notable absentee from the directors' box at the New York Stadium.

Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley evidently punched 'Rotherham stadium' into his satellite navigation system and it seems to have not been updated with new maps, as he tweet from Sheffield:, external "Disaster we have just arrived at the Don Valley. Damn sat nav has took us to old ground!!"

His side are drawing 0-0 at the moment.

Cristiano Ronaldo has the first shot of the night but drags his left-footed effort tamely at Beto in the Sevilla goal. James Rodriguez is playing on the left of a midfield trio in the early stages. Expect plenty of rotation though...

BBC Sport's Richard Winton at Old Trafford: "Expect plenty of discussion about Manchester United and tactics this term. Tonight, Louis van Gaal has his XI assembled in a 3-4-1-2 shape with Reece James and Ashley Young on the flanks and Juan Mata off the front two with much pointing and cajoling among the players as they try to get to grips with an unfamiliar system.

"So far, United have recycled possession relatively diligently, albeit one or two of the back three still seem more than a touch apprehensive with the ball at their feet. With the tempo slow, though, chances have been scant."

Toni Kroos has taken up a very deep position in the Real Madrid midfield, demanding the ball from the back four like a Germanic Paul Scholes and ticking the ball over. Unsurprisingly, Madrid are dominating the early possession.

Mark Clattenburg is referee tonight and leads out the teams in Cardiff. The Cardiff City Stadium looks pretty much full to me. The Bale effect.

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Stadium MK: "The edge that enveloped this ground when these two sides first faced each other two years ago has definitely diminished this time around.

"For one, AFC Wimbledon have probably brought about a quarter of the travelling support that made it for that FA Cup defeat.

"Still, I expect it to be a prickly affair. Oh - and Bayo Akinfenwa starts for the visitors, so whatever happens, we're in for a treat."

If I was playing at the back for Sevilla, I'd be very frightened right about now.

If you are just dialling in, here's a reminder of tonight's Real Madrid starting XI:

Real: Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao, Kroos, Rodriguez, Modric, Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.

Gruffydd Rhys Davies:, external Paul Pogba is probably a good shout for breaking the 9-figure barrier in a few years if he continues to develop as he does now.

Kevin Brown:, external Adnan Januzaj could easily be a record breaker if he builds muscle like Ronaldo did at United.

BBC Sport's Richard Winton at Old Trafford: "Another small point of order this evening is the curious presence of a 28-year-old from Dundee in the Valencia dugout.

"Former Dundee United youth-team coach Ian Cathro is assistant to Nuno Espirito Santo, the duo having struck up a rapport at a coaching course in Ayrshire a few years ago and teamed up to guide hitherto unheralded Portuguese club Rio Ave to two cup finals last season. That, in turn, earned the pair a move to Spain in the summer."
