Jon Goodway:, external RVP has been very quiet. He could be most at risk from Falcao arrival. Seems off the pace.

UnSimpleSimon:, external It has taken Utd £150m to get good again. Getting more expensive to buy success. Got to remove the FFP for QPR.

Dave W:, external Rojo to centre-back, bring on Shaw. Falcao for RVP - lets see what the rest of the guys are like.

Manchester United have gone back to four at the back this afternoon and it's been left-back Marcos Rojo (5) and right-back Rafael (2) supplying the width. Wayne Rooney (10) has been right up front too. He'll get goals up there.

"Fantastic positive play from the first minute, Manchester United thoroughly deserve their lead but it has been far too easy.

"The movement, interchange and pace of the front four has been great and Angel Di Maria has been the star of the show. He is what they have been crying out for."

Applause ripples down from the stands as Manchester United toast a strong first-half showing. QPR are cooked here.

"Can Steven Caulker get out to block the ball quicker? He stands off and I think Wayne Rooney's shot went through his legs. United are 3-0 up but they have not had to work hard for their goals at all.

"We will definitely see Falcao come on in the second half now. You have to worry for QPR here."

Harry Redknapp will not be happy with the way his side have gone about their task today. Slack stuff.

Jamie Smith:, external Was only a matter of time before Man Utd clicked, van Gaal has made some quality signings. Still fancy Chelsea for PL title though.

Andy Brown:, external Of all the marquee signings this summer, Blind and Herrera might just well be the difference!

Chris Baldwin:, external Are we getting carried away here? This is QPR who Spurs beat 4-0 a few weeks ago. Man Utd still have a lot to prove.

  9. GOALpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 14 September 2014

Too easy. It's far too easy as QPR stand off and admire Manchester United's third. Some slick stuff in the build up but Steven Caulker has to get tighter to prevent Wayne Rooney from driving home from the edge of the box. He didn't, and Rooney buried it at the near post.

Funny what an investment of £150m can do to a team eh? United looking back to their old self now as even Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie link up, neat one-touch stuff leaving Clint Hill for dead.

It has been high-tempo stuff from Manchester United Sam, you're not wrong. I think that's Angel Di Maria's only setting, as he again scurries away on the left and drops a teasing cross between Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. He's not afraid to drift in an early cross.

  12. Text us on 81111published at 16:41 British Summer Time 14 September 2014

Sam J, Oxford: Aside from the obvious influx in talent, the one glaring difference seems to be that Man United are finally catching up with the modern game and playing high tempo, high pressure. Blind and Herrera typify this. Staggering it's taken this long though.

Tom Geoffrey:, external Oh there you are Manchester Utd. Welcome back.

  14. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 14 September 2014

QPR need the next goal if they are to have any illusions of leaving with points, and they fashion a good opportunity too. Matt Phillips gets the better of Marcos Rojo down the right hand side and pulls a dangerous cross into the middle - but it's behind Charlie Austin.

"A great run from Angel Di Maria, he played in Wayne Rooney, whose blocked shot had no conviction, but the good thing about Ander Herrera is that he is there supporting the play and he puts the rebound into the bottom corner.

"You have to worry now that this score could be anything. QPR's game plan has gone out of the window. United look a proper team now. There is pace, power and aggression."

  16. Postpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 14 September 2014

Ander Herrera doesn't get many - just seven league goals in nearly 100 games for Athletic Bilbao - but he took that really well.

  17. GOALpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 14 September 2014

A really good counter-attacking goal, the Manchester United of old almost? Steady on.

It was forged by the pace and industry of Angel Di Maria again, carrying the ball 50+ yards with a really incisive run before slipping it inside to Wayne Rooney. His shot is blocked but fellow new boy Ander Herrera arrives to slam the loose change back into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

So far so good for the United reboot.

A ragged few minutes for the hosts continues as Robin van Persie is booked for a rash challenge on Junior Hoilett. Can QPR hurt them though? Charlie Austin has barely seen the ball.

BBC Sport's Simon Stone, reporting from Old Trafford, has spotted a familiar face in the crowd: "Kevin Pietersen is enjoying himself at the 'other' Old Trafford."

Angel Di Maria in the thick of it again as he whips in a cross on the run from wide on the left, but Robin van Persie can't control his header and it's over the top.

But then a chance for QPR! United goalkeeper David de Gea comes way out of his area and gets it all wrong, a mistake allows Matt Phillips a sight of goal but his shot is tame and is easily cleared by Jonny Evans.

A heartening lapse at the back for QPR fans though.
