Summary

  • Everton beaten on final group game

  • Four full debutants for Toffees

  • Everton already through to next round

  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

No further chances at either end as referee Istvan Kovacs brings the first half to a close. Some encouraging signs for an inexperienced Toffees side, but they have come unstuck on one occasion against a near full-strength Krasnodar team.

  2. INJURY TIMEpublished at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

The fourth official's electronic board shows that there will be two minutes of stoppage time.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Everton striker Arouna Kone whacks Krasnodar marker Vitali Kaleshin with a flailing arm as the pair contest a loose ball. No intent from Kone, but he still receives a yellow card for his troubles. Kaleshin looks a little dazed as he is given a wet of the magic sponge. No words of sympathy from the Everton fans closest to the left touchline.

More encouraging signs down the left from Luke Garbutt, who wins corner for the home side. We know what threat Antolin Alcaraz can pose from these situations. But he can't stick his nut on Garbutt's delivery this time.

Spotting familiar faces in the Goodison Park stands is more fun than this match at the moment. Oooh, there's Francis Jeffers. And there's Duncan Ferguson (that's no surprise because he's part of the Blues coaching staff).

Big Dunc winning a few headers for 'Fox-In-The-Box' Franny is exactly what Everton could do with right now.

John Pierce:, external Just play 11 outfield players.....Robles my word. Commitment son. You are playing for Everton!

  7. Postpublished at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz has been the home side's biggest goal threat in the opening half hour - and he goes close again.

The big Paraguayan uses his power to get the better of Krasnodar marker Yuri Gazinski but sees his header sail over.

  8. GOALpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Silence at an already-quiet Goodison. This is not what the hardy home fans wanted. A clever throughball sliced open the Toffees defence and Krasnodar attacker Ricardo Laborde races clear.

He is forced out wide as Everton keeper Joel Robles stomps out, but Laborde is too clever for the Spaniard - giving him the eyes before pulling back into the net after shaping to cut back to a waiting team-mate.

A bearded Gareth Southgate is sat in the posh seats at Goodison. Plenty of young Englishmen for the Under-21s boss to keep tabs on tonight.

  10. Postpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Everton's defenders pause, looking inquisitively over at the linesman on the far side, expecting to see a flag raised against Krasnodar's Wanderson. But the Brazilian instinctively stops and the flag stays down as team-mate Joaozinho races on to the loose ball. But the Toffees regroup and prevent Joaozinho taking advantage.

  11. Europa League latestpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Borussia Monchengladbach are through as winners of Group A thanks to their 3-0 win over FC Zurich; Patrick Herrmann's opener was followed by two goals from Branimir Hrgota to eliminate the Swiss side. Villarreal go through in second place after a 2-0 away victory over Apollon Limassol.

Torino's 5-1 win over nine-man FC Copenhagen seals a last-32 place, but not top spot in Group B, which goes to Club Brugge after Lior Refaelov's 88th-minute goal gave them a 2-1 victory over HJK Helsinki.

Left-back Luke Garbutt is another teenager trying to make an impression for Everton and he does just that with a driving run into the left side of the Krasnodar box.

The Russian visitors make a mess of clearing the danger as the ball falls to Steven Pienaar on the edge of the area. The stand-in skipper digs out a first time effort which away keeper Andrei Sinitsin shovels away from his bottom corner.

  13. All about Kieran Dowellpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Ormskirk-born Kieran Dowell, who is making his Everton debut as an early substitute for the injured Christian Atsu, has been with the club since the age of seven and can play in a variety of attacking positions.

The 17-year-old has become a regular at youth level for England over the last couple of years, winning his first Under-18 cap against Italy in September.

Manager Roberto Martinez indicated during the summer that Dowell's potential was one of the reasons he decided against pursuing a permanent deal for Tom Cleverley, who instead ended up leaving Manchester United for Aston Villa on loan.

  14. Get involvedpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Charlie Finnamore:, external I think the floodlights were turned out by a Spurs fan and I don't blame them...

Andrew H:, external Even God's turned off the Spurs match then. If we played for a year we wouldn't work out how to score. Sigh.

Paul Moore:, external Spurs playing the same completely ineffective nonsense created by AVB, undone by Sherwood, then continued again by Pochettino.

Warning sign from the Russians as the wonderfully-named Wanderson stings the palms of Everton keeper Joel Robles with a fierce strike from a narrow angle.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

An Arouna Kone goal would be greeted with plenty of enthusiasm from the home fans inside Goodison after his long-term injury hell. And the Ivorian striker almost grabs one, flashing a fierce shot towards the bottom corner.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

All over in Istanbul. Spurs can't force an equaliser and that means they are consigned to runners-up spot in Group C. Besiktas progress as group winners instead.

  18. LIGHTS BACK ONpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Let there be light! The floodlights have been switched on in Istanbul's Olympic Stadium - for the third time tonight. Three minutes of stoppage time are about to kick off in the next few minutes.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Youngster Kieran Dowell is the man summoned to replace Christian Atsu as Everton return to their full complement of 11 men.

  20. CLOSE!published at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Paraguay defender Antolin Alcaraz is making only his 11th start since joining Everton 18 months ago - and comes within a whisker of netting his first Toffees goal. His firm header from a left-wing corner brushes past the left-hand upright.
