An early injury concern for Everton. Don't worry, it isn't Arouna Kone. Instead it is Christian Atsu whose night is over almost before it begins.

The on-loan Chelsea winger sprints after a pass out to the right and immediately pulls up short. Looks like he has pinged his hamstring.

Plenty of empty blue seats at Everton. You can hear every instruction and roar of encouragement that comes out of the players' mouths tonight. Although my Russian isn't good enough to understand what the Krasnodar players are saying...

Celtic, already through to the last 32 as Group D runners-up, were involved in a thriller in Croatia, losing 4-3 to Dinamo Zagreb, for whom Marko Pjaca scored a hat-trick. Dinamo are out but at least avoid finishing bottom, as they leapfrog Astra Giurgiu, thumped 5-1 at group winners Salzburg.

Dinamo Moscow had won Group E even before tonight's 1-0 win away to PSV, who had guaranteed second spot before kick-off. Aleksei Ionov scored the 90th-minute winner. Panathinaikos and Estoril, both already out, drew 1-1.

The other game in Group C - Tottenham's section - saw Partizan Belgrade and Asteras Tripolis draw 0-0. Partizan finish bottom, Asteras third.

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Let me lead you from the darkness into the light. As an Istanbul engineer furiously tries to fix the problem again, Goodison Park is basking in a glare of artificial light.

No problems - apart from the driving rain - as a youthful Everton side begin their match against Krasnodar.

  5. PLAY STOPPEDpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Disaster. Just as the clock ticks into injury-time, Istanbul's Olympic Stadium plunges into darkness for the second time.

  6. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Still the match swings from end-to-end like a pendulum clock operating on new batteries. Tottenham keeper Michel Vorm is alert to gather a Besiktas cross before the tie moves into three minutes of added time.

  7. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Spurs win free-kick in a promising position about 35 yards out, just to the right of the Besiktas goal. Surely the away side can finally produce a pinpoint delivery? No. Andros Townsend's set-piece is over hit and flies past everyone gathered in the box.

  8. FIVE TO GOpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Five minutes, or 300 seconds, for Spurs to find a vital equaliser. Plus injury-time of course. Loads of time...

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Besiktas boss Slaven Bilic is forced into a late change - and I'm sure he's happy to run the clock down. Gokhan Tore limps off after being crunched by Spurs sub Erik Lamela and his place is taken by Ismail Koybasi.

It could be well worth keeping an eye this evening on Everton debutant Ryan Ledson, a player tipped for a big future.

The midfielder, born in Netherton, to the north of Liverpool, has been with Everton since the age of five, and signed a three-year professional contract on his 17th birthday in August.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez named him on the bench for Premier League matches against Southampton and Manchester City towards the end of last season, before the youngster led England's Under-17s to the European Championship title in Malta in May.

Ledson has captained England's Under-18s this season, and scored a spectacular long-range free-kick for them in a 4-1 friendly win in Poland in November.

Just under 10 minutes for Spurs to find a dramatic equaliser and snatch top spot from Besiktas's grasp.

Just under 10 minutes until Everton kick off their dead rubber against Krasnodar.

  12. Postpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Spurs try to bounce back with an attack of their own - and they are greeted by a chorus of whistles. Andros Townsend wins back possession close to the left corner flag but there is only one yellow shirt waiting in the box for his delivery. Throw some men into the box!

  13. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Desperate times for Spurs. Twice they are a little stretched defensively as Besiktas look to land the killer blow. Twice they survive.

  14. Get involvedpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Jack:, external Spare a thought for FK Qarabag. Scored a perfectly good 94th-minute goal to make it 1-0, only to see it wrongly wiped out.

Karwolo Kamei:, external Qarabag was robbed! That was never offside...

Yes, controversy late on as Qarabag were eliminated after a 0-0 draw at home to Inter Milan earlier. A win would have taken the Azerbaijan champions through with Inter - and they thought they had got it when Richard Almeida's shot was deflected in off Inter defender Isaac Donkor in the third minute of stoppage time.

But the goal was ruled out for offside, and Dnipro went through instead thanks to a 1-0 win over St Etienne. Fine margins, fine margins.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Final change for Spurs - and it is an attacking one. Right-back Kyle Walker lasts 76 minutes on his comeback from a long-term injury and is unsurprisingly given a rest by Mauricio Pochettino. Midfielder Etienne Capoue is the man tasked with helping Spurs find an equaliser.

But there is no such luxury for Spurs. For most of this game they have looked comfortable, but find themselves behind. And it was almost two.

Marauding left-back Danny Rose is caught napping, allowing Jose Sosa to barge into the Spurs box from the right. Rose - and Spurs - are glad to watch his left-footed shot fly over.

Little under 20 minutes until we switch our focus from Istanbul to Liverpool. Luckily we're not relying on a low-budget airline to take us there.

Everton are already through as group winners remember, and are using the opportunity to give some vital experience to a number of young players.

  19. Europa League latestpublished at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

Group A looks done and dusted, with Borussia Monchengladbach set to finish top as they hold a 3-0 lead over FC Zurich, who are heading out.

Villarreal, 2-0 up away to Apollon Limassol thanks to first-half goals from Gerard Moreno and Luciano Vietto, will finish second, a point behind.

  20. DOUBLE SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2014

All change for Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino throws the tactical dice and comes up with a double. Attacking midfielders Erik Lamela and Aaron Lennon replace Paulinho and Roberto Soldado. Can these two change Tottenham's fortunes?
