Former QPR striker Bradley Allen: "What a performance by Crystal Palace and it will given them a massive injection of confidence with the games they have to come. Dwight Gayle has been an example to everyone with his workrate, he's given absolutely everything out there. He's the man of the match today by a good distance."

James: Ellesmere Port Rodgers needs time just like Ferguson got at Utd. Remember they finished 2nd in '88 only to finish outside the top ten the following season. Took Utd another four years to land the title.

From Mo, Manchester: Can anyone else wait to hear Rodgers excuses this time? How can you be a good manager when it's quite clear Suarez was our reason for success without him we have a load of overpriced players who bring nothing extra to our team, clueless management is an understatement.

MikeD: BR the 3rd LFC manager (inc GH/RB) to bring team to runners up spot and then blow the momentum in following transfer market. Can't be solely down to manager flaws - club has to look at itself in terms of overall organisation, scouts, commercial men, decision making. Back to square one yet again.

Mark Duffell:, external Liverpool have conceded six goals in two games against Palace. There is no defence for that. Appropriate. As Liverpool have no defence.

Kuni Poonasamy:, external Why Brendan Rodgers refuses to play two upfront is beyond me. It's not like we bossing the midfield!

Mark Voisey:, external No denying it anymore. Liverpool are just awful. Deserve to be where they are. Players aren't helping Rodgers at all.

  6. INJURY TIMEpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2014

Four minutes of injury time as Marouane Chamakh almost gets on the end of a cross. A fourth Palace goal looks likelier than any Liverpool fightback.

Raheem Sterling gives away a free kick as he hacks away at the back of James McArthur. Palace are seeing this out in relative comfort.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce makes six changes from the side who lost to Burnley last time out. Allan McGregor, Andrew Robertson, Michael Dawson, Gaston Ramirez, Hatem Ben Arfa and Nikica Jelavic are all given starts.

Tottenham are without the suspended Kyle Naughton, so Eric Dier deputises at right-back, while Erik Lamela replaces Andros Townsend, who withdrew from England duty with an ankle injury.

Hull XI: McGregor, Elmohamady, Robertson, Dawson, Davies, Huddlestone, Livermore, Ramírez, Brady, Ben Arfa, Jelavic. Subs. Harper, Rosenior, Chester, Meyler, Hernandez, Sagbo, Quinn

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Dier, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Dembele, Mason, Eriksen, Lamela; Kane, Soldado. Subs. Vorm, Ball, Chiriches, Ceballos, Lennon, Paulinho, Stambouli.

Scott, Warrington: Mignolet somehow puts it out for a thrown from a freekick. Goal. Skrtel stupidly gives a freekick having gone behind. Goal. Liverpool only have themselves to blame. It's pitiful.

Jerry, Essex: I've been happy to stand by Rodgers but things are getting ridiculous now. Solid cb in Toure left on the bench, good lb left on bench so we played a rb there. Gerrard's past it. Borini and Can should have started.

Bill in Hereford: Biggest worry for Liverpool now, is how long will Sterling stick around? If he was to go, with all that money wasted from Suarez we would be mid table at best.

James, Watford: Not good enough for Reading. Not good enough for Liverpool. Bye Bye Rogers.

Louis Strong:, external That was actually a master class on free-kicks. Placement was perfect, took his time. Sign him up Liverpool I think you need him!

Dean Horspole:, external Breaking news! Crystal Palace have signed Ronaldo. What a free-kick!

Saul Fulda:, external Mile Jedinak! Quality free-kick. Liverpool in meltdown!

"One of the finest free-kicks you are going to see this season. If Cristiano Ronaldo scored that goal they would be showing it for weeks and weeks afterwards. But you don't expect Mile Jedinak to score free-kicks like that!"

Palace have their three goals like last season. And this time I think it will be good enough for three points.

Mile Jedinak steps up, after Martin Skrtel's foul on Dwight Gayle, and sends a lovely 30-yard free-kick arcing into the top-corner past a despairing Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool has a penalty shout a minute earlier for a foul on Raheem Sterling, but that is set to be only a footnote in another defeat.

  20. Crystal Palace 2-1 Liverpoolpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2014

    BBC Radio London 94.9

Former QPR striker Bradley Allen: "Palace's players have stuck at it, kept closing players down and their work has been rewarded. But what were Liverpool doing trying to play out from the back like that in these conditions?"
