  1. Text us on 81111published at 12:19 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

As is usual on a Saturday, we've been working in tandem with the Danny Baker Show on BBC Radio 5 live to ask: What sporting lies have you told? And did you get away with them?

Paul Gallagher: We had a supply teacher for PE who timed our 100m sprints. He measured the path we were running along and as he did we followed him for a while, making the distance about 60m. He didn't realise and dutifully passed the results onto the head of PE who thought our nine-second 100m times looked a bit dubious!

Hilton, London: Due to the fact that I lived quite a distance from my son - who was living in Plymouth - to explain my absence, I used to tell my very young son I was away on England football duty. I used my team photos from University as photographic evidence of my exploits, with my son being none the wiser to England colours being a youngster! I sometimes remind him of my false glorious past!

  2. 'Pearce has to do better'published at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

    Steve Claridge
BBC Radio 5 live at the iPro Stadium

"Derby have been good throughout the season but they have really picked up recently. They are joint top on points, and for me they have been the most fluent team in the league.

"The trouble with Forest is that they started so well, but it has all been downhill since then. They have stuck with Stuart Pearce, primarily because he was such an important player for the club - a legend. He is a nice guy and we want him to do well but he has to do better, there is no doubt about that."

  3. KICK OFFpublished at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce looks very smart in a suit and tie as he sits in the visitors' dugout at the iProStadium. Owner and chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi watches on from the stand as we get under way.

  4. Manager talkpublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "This is a fantastic game in this part of the world. It's a game I know all too well and I've probably played in circa 20 of them."

  6. Manager talkpublished at 12:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "It's a great time to play Derby. It's a great fixture. It's a great challenge.

"The Championship is one of those leagues where the form book goes out the window. It's a great occasion and both sets of fans are looking forward to it.

"I don't think losing Andy Reid, Jack Hobbs and Chris Cohen in one week has helped us. We've brought in a lot of additions, and lost 16 players. But we're aware results have to be better."

  9. Pearce under pressure?published at 11:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

    Former England defender Martin Keown
    BBC Radio 5 live

"Sometimes when a man is such a huge figure at a club they just shouldn't be a manager.

"He is such a legend and that is not doing him any favours at the moment."

Danny Mills has been receiving pelters on here for criticising Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce. Now some of you are riding to Mills' defence...

Mark Andrews: No fan of Danny Mills but Stuart Pearce really is hopeless.

Chris Mac: The only people who disagree with Danny Mills are Forest fans. Not good enough. Don't let sentimentality cloud your judgment.

Andrew Newton: Mills might be bitter but he's certainly not wrong about Pearce being a poor manager. His record is poor wherever he's been.

  11. Text us on 81111published at 11:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

As is usual on a Saturday morning, we've teamed up with the Danny Baker Show on BBC Radio 5 live to ask: What sporting lies have you told? And did you get away with them?

Staying Anonymous from Staffordshire: I'm ashamed to admit I feigned a head injury in a university football game after their striker beat me on the turn. I was the last man and he did catch my neck with a flailing arm. We drew the match 0-0 in the end.

Charlie in Radley: I once pretended I'd lost my contact lenses as a seven-year-old to get subbed off when playing football in a blizzard. 10 years on and I still don't wear contacts.

Anthony in London: My friend once said he was a Millwall striker to chat up a girl. I was too fat to get away with that, so I said I was the head physiotherapist for Millwall. We got the girls' numbers.

But Anthony, why didn't your friend just tell the girl that he was the Versace model he undoubtedly is?

Two years ago, Sunday Mba's goal gave Nigeria the Africa Cup of Nations title as they beat Burkina Faso 1-0 in Johannesburg. But the Super Eagles will not be defending their title as the 2015 tournament kicks off in Equatorial Guinea today, as they surprisingly failed to qualify.

The tournament starts with two Group A matches in Bata, with Equatorial Guinea facing Congo at 16:00 GMT, before Burkina Faso take on Gabon at 19:00. We'll keep you up to date with all the action on the BBC Sport website.

Chris Slack: Danny Mills is not fit to lace Psycho's boots.

Isaac Qureshi: Danny Mills has always been a stirrer. It compensates for his distinct lack of talent.

Peter Collins: Mills should be ashamed. There is little to no justification for an attack like that. Hope he apologises.

If you're just catching up with this story, former England defender Danny Mills said on BBC Radio 5 live last night that Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce is "not a great coach, not a great tactician and not a great motivator".

Some interesting thoughts from you on both sides of the debate - keep them coming please. And keep them clean!

  15. TEAM NEWSpublished at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Derby make three changes from the side that won 1-0 away to Ipswich last weekend, with Omar Mascarell, Jamie Ward and Craig Bryson coming into the starting XI.

As Forest look for a first win in nine matches, manager Stuart Pearce also makes three changes, with Henri Lansbury, Gary Gardner and Kelvin Wilson to start.

Derby XI: Grant, Christie, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth, Mascarell, Hughes, Bryson, Ward, Russell, Martin.

Nottingham Forest XI: De Vries, Lichaj, Wilson, Hobbs, Kane, Antonio, Gardner, Tesche, Osborn, Lansbury, Assombalonga.

We teamed up with this morning's Danny Baker Show on BBC Radio 5 live to ask: What sporting lies have you told? And did you get away with them? A mere 34 minutes after the show finished, you've finally all decided to confess...

Seagull: My captain and I exaggerated a waterlogged pitch to get a match called off. Was wet but our keeper was ill and we had no replacement.

Jozef Podsiadly: I got out of a yellow card by feigning deafness. Hard to maintain for the remaining 80 minutes...

Boring Sean O'Connor: I'm a keeper, and I dropped the ball in a Cup final that led to a goal. So I pretended the striker kicked my hand, got the goal ruled out and we won the Cup!

Brilliant stuff, all of you. But how on earth does deafness get you out of a yellow card? By the way, 'Boring Sean O'Connor' is the contributor's Twitter handle, not my opinion of him...

Former England defender Danny Mills' claim on BBC Radio 5 live that Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce is "not a great coach, not a great tactician and not a great motivator" (see 10:37) has got you tapping away on social media. Here's a selection of the texts you have been sending in.

Dan: I remember Pearce as Manchester City boss and it was pretty turgid stuff by the end. He kept us up when he took over though and gave far more to the club than bitter Danny Mills - Pearce is a better boss than Mills was a player.

Chris, Burton: As a Derby fan I can't imagine a better time to play Forest. They are totally on the ropes at the moment and here's hoping we can deal the knockout blow.

Tom: I'm a Forest fan and I'm worried today's match will make the 5-0 in March look like a close game. Please prove me wrong chaps.

  19. Most pupils never shower after PE - studypublished at 11:24 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

More than half of secondary school boys and two-thirds of girls never shower after PE, a study suggests.

The paper, in the European Journal of Sports Sciences, concludes pupils who do not shower are less active.

Dr Gavin Sandercock, who led the study, said he was surprised at how rare showering had become. Really, Gavin? You wouldn't be if you'd gone to the school I went to...

Cards on the table: We've not had very many of your sporting lies this morning. Are you all really that honest? Or are you just blind to your own deceit?

I once faked a groin injury to get out of cross-country at school. Which brings me on to one of the day's odder stories, courtesy of BBC News...
