BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson talks about his love for Preston, before the club's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Manchester United.

Lawrenson began his career at Deepdale under the management of Bobby Charlton, before moving on to achieve FA Cup success with Liverpool.

The former defender describes making his Preston debut as "utopia". It's a lovely watch.

England manager Roy Hodgson: "The last time I was here was with Blackburn in 1997 in the League Cup and it never ceases to amaze me, a club in Division One and you see a stadium as fantastic as this.

"Such a difference from three years ago in terms of young players available for England, we didn't have such a choice. Now we have so many younger players, who are kicking at the door and that is a great thing. My main hope is these players can keep progressing.

"Louis Van Gaal has a wealth of talent and his job is to get best players in positions to suit him. Who knows maybe I will find myself in that position one day but we still regard Wayne Rooney as an attacking player because that is where he is scoring goals. It won't be a problem for us but for us his best position is one of the attacking positions."

Roy is doing the FA Cup draw just after 19:30 GMT.

Former Preston and Republic of Ireland midfielder Kevin Kilbane on BBC World Service: "Wayne Rooney is a fantastic striker, that is his natural position, he is a goal scorer. He's chasing records don't forget, he's chasing the Premier League's overall goal scoring record and Manchester United's overall goal scoring record. That's what he wants, he wants to be scoring goals and he is less likely to do that playing in midfield."

"Having played with him and realising the intensity that he trains with every day, he wants to get himself into goal scoring positions, so I think that you do him a disservice by playing him in the position that he is playing because he is far better suited to playing as a striker."

It's easy to be cynical at times but there are plenty of young Preston fans goggle-eyed at seeing Wayne Rooney warming up just in front of them. Sometimes you forget what the FA Cup can be all about.

Preston boss Simon Grayson, speaking to BBC Sport: "We want to be solid but will keep two up front with Joe Garner and Kevin Davies to try and affect them. The atmosphere will play a massive part for us, it probably won't affect Manchester United because they have played in front of big crowds before, but it will give our lads a real lift.

"We have a tough task, they have some world class players but if we give it a go and get a bit of luck you never know."
