  1. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Burnley's home Premier League campaign ends with a drab goalless draw. The Turf Moor fans rise to applaud their team. They have certainly not been found lacking in terms of effort this campaign. Stoke reach the 51-point mark - their highest ever Premier League total.

  2. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Tottenham end the season with what, in truth, was a fairly comfortable win. That it was so comfortable is a damning indictment of Hull and their hopes of remaining in this division. The Tigers huffed and puffed by came nowhere near a roar. Only Newcastle's equal ineptitude is keeping this relegation battle alive.

We go into injury time at the Stadium of Light. I'll cartwheel through the office if we have a winner... hang on... I've spoken too soon, Andrej Kramaric HAS AN OPEN NET as Costel Pantilimon again races from his goal, the angle isn't easy... and it's over. Heart in mouth time for home fans.

Everton have nicked this game at the death. Romelu Lukaku shows the most desire in the box to muscle his way to a cross from the right and dive in to head his side towards three points.

  5. CLOSE!published at 16:48 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Newcastle are pushing, here they come, Ayoze Perez on a weaving run, will he ever pass? Yes, to Sammy Ameobi who crosses for Papiss Cisse... deflected wide in the six-yard box by Clint Hill. What a chance.

Sam Williams:, external As a Villa fan I would have taken a 15-0 loss today as long as we stay in the division and can rebuild for next season.

Dennis Edwards:, external Despite their humiliating defeat today, it looks like the 38 points will be enough to secure Villa's Premiership status.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Another hopeless ball is swung straight into Hugo Lloris' hands by Hull. There are just a few more minutes to play of normal time, with three minutes added. Hull need a miracle.

Tottenham eat some of that time up by withdrawing Harry Kane to be replaced by Roberto Soldado. Kane gets a huge standing ovation from the home crowd for his efforts this season. The first 30-goal Spurs striker since Gary Lineker. Take a bow son.

Lee Cattermole is a lucky boy. Already on a booking he commits a foul as Leicester scramble for possession with Costel Pantilimon way out of his goal. The giant keeper had raced out to clear. We are heading for stalemate.

BIG CHANCE, Moussa Sissoko can run onto a shot but it's agonisingly wide. He profited from Sammy Ameobi's direct run but cannot hit the target from 12 yards.

Brady chips the free-kick in to the Spurs box but it is headed clear. Hull are a beaten side. Just eight minutes to go.

If Hull are to salvage anything from this afternoon it has to happen now. They have a free-kick in the Tottenham half. Robbie Brady is over it...

  12. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Esteban Cambiasso stands over free-kick from the angle of the area, dangerous position. Here he comes... oh dear. Has the ball been replaced with one of those plastic ones available at petrol stations back in the 1990s? It's gone high into the stand and seemed to keep gaining elevation at rapid rate.

By the way, a goal for either side makes them safe. Stick or twist?

Les Graham:, external As a Newcastle fan, we deserve to go down. We lack passion and motivation, maybe the championship will give us a reality check

Daniel Fenton:, external I can't believe it! Newcastle have the best coach in the premier league and they're losing to QPR!

A last throw of the dice for Newcastle as the leggy Sammy Ameobi comes on for Remy Cabella.

The Geordies will still be in charge of their fate next week when they play West Ham but it's not straight forward by any means. For all the permutations, have a look at our entry at 16:32 BST.

"Hull have not played badly at all. Spurs started the second half slowly, but two pieces of brilliance, from Chadli and Mason, have put them ahead."

  16. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Hull are giving it a go. But you feel it is too little, too late. Stephen Quinn shoots low from the edge of the box but Hugo Lloris saves. If this stays how it is - and you sense it will - Hull will have to win their last game (at home against Manchester United) and hope Sunderland have already lost their game in hand and lose again on the final day or Newcastle fail to win. Hull's saving grace could be a superior goal difference.

  17. GERRARD STARTSpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Steven Gerrard is in the Liverpool team to face Crystal Palace this afternoon. It's his final game at Anfield. It's barely been in the press this week so if you didn't know, don't worry.

Have Sunderland and Leicester City realised a point here is now a good point as others struggle?

The home side are under most pressure but this one looks like ending level. Adam Johnson has other ideas, a nice run in from the right flank but his drive at the near post is dealt with by Kasper Schmeichel.

"It does not seem to be quite Hull's day, they have created a lot of half-chances but Spurs have defended well at set-pieces. It seems it's just not going to be Hull's day."

Answers on a postcard as to how Hull have not scored here. Dame N'Doye and Ahmed Elmohamady have a couple of bites at the cherry each from close range - all of which are either scuffed or blocked by a Tottenham defender - before the former acrobatically shoots wide of the far post. Steve Bruce is utterly crestfallen.
