Now Newcastle are sweating a bit. Only Hull City's ineptitude will likely save them it seems. Paul Dummett spins on a volley six yards out, over. A good chance.

"For Hull it's now looking like being all about the last game for them. Can they go and get something against Manchester United when they need to?"

"You will not see a better pass all season as the one from Ryan Mason. He picks out Danny Rose with an incredible dink that takes out all the Hull defenders."

PICK IT OUT. PICK IT OUT.

Some endeavour from QPR at last in these recent minutes and Matt Phillips slides to doggedly win a ball back which spills into the path of Leroy Fer.

What he does is anything but dogged. It's class, pure shimmering class. Right footed from around 35 yards, it bristles into the top corner, swerving away from Tim Krul as he dived to his right.

Game over? Season over for Hull? It is a well-workd goal from Spurs' point of view as they work the bal across the box before Ryan Mason chips forward for Danny Rose to slice home on the volley. Hull's task is huge now.

Former England left-back on Final Score

"We've been sat here watching that game seeing Hull create chances and then the sucker punch has come and Tottenham have scored on the counter. If Hull lose here, I can't see them winning their last game. Heads will go down."

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Tottenham's tails are up. Harry Kane is sent running into Hull's half but he takes on the shot early and drags his shot past the far post.

That is the cue for a change as Mousa Dembele replaces Christian Eriksen.

John Carver stands hands on hips in the technical area, his side have done what they usually do, concede away from home. That's 16 in five away games for the Toon.

Simple stuff too. Charlie Austin produced a lovely left-foot cross moments ago, this time he switches and clips in from the right as Matt Phillips lurks at the back post. A good leap above his man, Tim Krul cannot cover across goal quickly enough and it's in at the near post.

  17. CLOSE!published at 16:12 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

A long punt, Charlie Austin chases, Paul Dummett and Fabricio Coloccini should deal with this, bounce... bounce. Austin has the muscle, he fashion shooting space but flashes wide from 10 yards. The angle was against him.

"It's a really good run from Chadli, there was a great through-ball, then he goes around Harper, and slides it into the empty net. Spurs take the lead against the run of play - I was just about to say that they had hardly got out of their own half since half-time."

Joey Barton is in the book for a heavy challenge on the touchline which left Jonas Gutierrez in a heap. The look of frustration on Barton's face is pronounced.

How significant a goal could this be? Just after Nikica Jelavic is flagged offside after getting into a good position, Spurs rub salt in the wound as Erik Lamela finds Nacer Chadli, who rounds the keeper and slots into the empty net. Hull are sinking. Three points currently separate them and safety. The Tigers need something big.
