Time to pull on the pinstripe and slap on the fake tan. We are going bargain-hunting.

What we want to hear from you this morning, is which clubs have already landed themselves a bargain this summer?

Is Adama Traore a steal at £7m for Aston Villa?

Have Liverpool unearthed a gem with Joe Gomez's£3.5m capture from Charlton?

Southampton's Jordy Clasie? Palace's Yohan Cabaye? Newcastle's Florian Thauvin?

A word of warning. I'm gong to take some convincing that any £20m+ deal falls into the bargain category.

  3. How late is too late?published at 16:26

There may only be 90 minutes of the transfer window left, but it isn't too late to make a move it seems.

West Brom have rejected a third Tottenham bid for striker Saido Berahino, Press Association Sport understands.

  4. Harper doubts Newcastle signingspublished at 16:24

Newcastle are unlikely to sign any more players before the transfer window closes, believes former Magpies goalkeeper Steve Harper.

“I think there might be a couple of exits. There was talk about Papiss Cisse leaving but with Aleksandar Mitrovic suspended then I don’t see that happening. Mike Williamson, Yoan Gouffran, maybe Paul Dummet, could all leave but I think it will be a case of exits because Newcastle have spent almost £50m this window,” the 40-year-old, who played almost 200 matches for Newcastle between 1993 and 2013, told BBC Sport.

“I know the table doesn’t look very good at the moment but it is early days.

“I think they have done good business and it was much needed. The squad was very thin last year and they say you need to spend £30m in the PL just to stand still. So Newcastle have spent it and I think they’ve spent it well. Florian Thauvin looks a very good player, although Mitrovic needs to calm down a little.

“Mike Ashley wants Newcastle to finish in the top 10 and now it is up to the manager Steve McClaren to produce.”

  5. Antonio a go go?published at 16:22

The leap from Championship to Premier League is a chasm that some just can't ever cross, no matter how hard they try. Cameron Jerome, I'm looking at you.

Whether Michail Antonio can make the leap or fall, Evel Knievel style, back into the second tier remains to be seen. But he's got every chance I reckon...

“Fair to say that no current Ghana international will be moving before the deadline. That’s because as we speak the Black Stars are playing Congo in a friendly. Two Premier League players are starting; Chelsea’s Baba Rahman and Bournemouth’s Christian Atsu. The Ayew brothers - Jordan and Andre - of Aston Villa and Swansea are on the bench.”

I couldn't work out what was missing from this deadline day, then I realised - nobody has yet claimed to see a disguised Jermain Defoe in a random airport yet. This must be the first deadline day for years where he hasn't been the subject of speculation!

Jermain has just sorted out his personal staff, he won't be on the move until at least January...

    "Don't panic!" "Don't panic!" "Don't panic!"

Sadly, not many football managers heed the advice of Dad's Army's Corporal Jones.

As the clock ticks down on transfer deadline day, football bosses up and down the country can start to get a bit twitchy. Suddenly, that hefty price tag seems worth the gamble, or that questionable knee injury is not so bad after all.

On last summer's deadline day, we took a look at some of the stories behind five deadline day panic buys.

  10. Watford's comings and goingspublished at 16:11

It's a very busy day at Watford, who must have been through 100 players this summer already.

Here's a helpful guide to the ins and outs from BBC Three Counties Radio chief Geoff Doyle:

"BOOM: Brugge striker Obbi Oulare has signed on a five-year deal.

"BOOM: Victor Ibarro signs season-long loan from Roma subject to medical.

"SOON: Crystal Palace midfielder Adlene Guedioura is set to sign a three-year permanent deal

"SOON TO BE GONE: Matej Vydra has moved to Reading on season long loan for a substantial loan fee.

"SCRAPPED: The deal for Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is not going ahead."

    Happy with that Hornets fans?

Are Real playing the game smartly?

Everybody seems to be missing the obvious here. In failing to sign De Gea for 'administrative reasons' Real Madrid have saved themselves close to £30m without it being perceived as them not wanting to buy the player. They'll now get him for nothing ahead of the 2016/2017 season. The European clubs always seem to be that bit more savvy than their English counterparts when it comes to the transfer window. Very smart bit of business by Real Madrid if you ask me.

Obbi Oulare - Club Brugge to Watford

The rotating door at Vicarage Road continues to spin as Watford bring in another striker. Welcome to the Premier League Obbi Oulare.

He's a 19-year-old who has come in from Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee.

Michail Antonio - Forest to West Ham

Well I didn't have to wait long for my first deal to go through, West Ham continue their impressive day by bringing in cruiserweight Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee.

I've seen fees of £7m being banded about. In my book that's a fine signing...

  16. Still time?published at 16:00

Good afternoon one and all - this feels a bit weird doesn't it? The 18:00 deadline has taken a bit of the wind out of the sails of good ship deadline day, but there's still plenty of cash set to enter/exit our shores in the next few hours.

Don't go anywhere just yet. Oh yes, you can't - you're still at work...
