Joleon Lescott has completed his move to Aston Villa... two year deal, rising to £2M. Still no breakthrough over Saido Berahino at West Brom. Tottenham's attempt to stagger the £22m fee didn't impress chairman Jeremy Peace and as it stands at the moment, West Brom would not be left with enough cash from the deal to bid for other players as replacement for such a prized asset. So West Brom remain adamant the player's not leaving.

Playing transfer deadline day bingo? Cross off 'footballer speaks to television crew through car window' on your sheet.

Nottingham Forest striker Michail Antonio has been spotted leaving after talks with West Ham, hitting the brake pedal and pinging down the electric window on his way out.

"The move is not finalised yet, but it all looks positive," the 25-year-old forward tells Sky Sports News. "There are a couple of things to get it over the line.

"To come from non-league and get into the Premier League is brilliant and I want to show everyone what I can do."

Then the 25-year-old Londoner zooms off to wait somewhere for confirmation. Probably an East End greasy spoon.

"There is a man on my telly standing outside The Den in a suit speaking fast and portentously without full stops or commas and with lots of superlatives.

"I'm scared because there is also a clock counting down in the bottom right-hand corner so something important must be about to happen like the arrival of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse but it turns out Shaun Batt has joined Leyton Orient from Millwall instead. On loan."

Chaos, panic buying and lots of superlatives - BBC Sport's Ben Dirs explored the craziness of Transfer Deadline Day.

"Despite a number of reports it’s all quiet at West Brom where they remain confident of keeping striker Saido Berahino. The Baggies are confused over reports linking them to Jose Enrique from Liverpool, they are though keen on Matt Phillips from QPR but a deal looks unlikely at this stage.

"Aston Villa should complete their move for Joleon Lescott before the deadline, they also want a striker, with a bid for Dwight Gayle was rejected by Crystal Palace this morning.

"Wolves are desperate for a new striker after Nouha Dicko was ruled out for the season with a knee ligament injury. A £4million offer for Joe Mason has been rejected by Cardiff, Reading’s Nick Blackman is the latest name to be linked.

"Birmingham are confident of keeping Demarai Gray, whilst Walsall have rejected a number of bids for striker Tom Bradshaw."

I was wondering where Dimitar and Emmanuel had got to...

Aston Villa held talks with the agent of Dimitar Berbatov today, but decided against signing the 34-year-old striker on the grounds that his wage demands were too high. Berbatov is a free agent after his contract expired at Monaco, though, so he could be signed outside the window. Meanwhile, Villa are no longer interested in signing Emmanuel Adebayor. They had a deal agreed with Tottenham for the striker in late July, but Adebayor rejected the move and Villa have not pursued him since.

"A classic poacher, this Congolese striker is quick and has good acceleration, finishing, and technique. He’s weak in the air, though, which would possibly see him benefit from playing alongside a target man on support. In FM15 he languishes in the TSG Evian reserves and would only cost £300,000 plus a few add-ons.

"In FM, his career doesn’t reach the headiest of heights, ending up with a modest tally of goals in Bulgaria. Maybe Championship clubs should look elsewhere."

  12. Lyon cash in on Martialpublished at 15:32

If reports are correct, Monaco are doing very well out of the Anthony Martial deal. They are in line to receive about £36m from Manchester United.

However, Lyon will also be very chuffed with the €10m (£7.35m) they will receive as part of a sell-on clause they had as part of the £4.4m deal that took him to Monaco two years ago. The person who negotiated that deserves a big bonus.

  13. Figures from Europepublished at 15:28

    John Bennett
    BBC World Service

"With the transfer windows long since shut in the other big leagues in Europe we’re starting to get some facts and figures.

"Serie A clubs spent €608 Million on transfers this summer, which means they’re in second place behind the Premier League.

"Juventus striker Paulo Dybala was the most expensive player at €32 Million."

  15. What did Januzaj do wrong?published at 15:27

Earlier today we asked you to send in questions about transfer deadline day for former Everton and Republiv of Ireland winger Kevin Kilbane.

Steven Jon Colangelo asked: "What do you make of Louis van Gaal offloading Adnan Januzaj, to then spend £36m on another attacking player?"

Kevin says: "Januzaj first came to attention at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson but in many respects he was the find of the David Moyes era. For whatever reason Louis van Gaal clearly doesn't fancy him and now all of a sudden he’s been offloaded. I think Dortmund have got themselves a player, he could go on and be the next big thing for them.

"It seems to me that the whole transfer policy at Manchester United has changed over the last couple of years.

"Spending £250m that normally guarantees you the title, but judging by the way they performed at Swansea, they are a very long way from that. It’s crazy the way football has changed."

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray is hopeful of bringing at least one signing in before the window closes, reports BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Clive Eakin. One of them could be Leeds forward Nicky Ajose.
