    As the 2015 summer transfer window enters its final hours, analysis from financial experts Deloitte shows that gross spending is on course to reach a new record, eclipsing the £835m spent last summer. As of 10:30 BST this morning, £790m had been spent, just £45m short of the record.

    The fact that the Daily Telegraph's man in the know at Old Trafford - Mark Ogden - has included it asthe 14th paragraph of his round-up of Manchester United business, externalsuggests he has little confidence of this deal actually happening.

    Anyway, here are his words.

    "Van Gaal has a long-standing interest inAntoine Griezmann, the Atletico Madrid forward, and a deal could yet be struck for the France international if his £46.1m release clause at the Vicente Calderon is triggered by United today."

    Hurrah! The administrators at the Scottish FA are finally picking a fax up off the machine - we have our first done deal north of the border.

    And that honour goes to Dundee United forward Robbie Muirhead who joins Premiership rivals Partick Thistle on loan until 4 January.

    The 19-year-old joined United from first club Kilmarnock near the close of the January transfer window and has scored twice in 16 appearances.

    These are the headlines so far today. 

    Manchester United are set to complete the £36m signing of 19-year-old Monaco forward Anthony Martial.  

    David De Gea's £29m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid has collapsed.

    Everton have signed defender Ramiro Funes Mori from Argentine club River Plate for £9.5m on a five-year deal. 

    West Ham have signed midfielder Alex Song on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

    Given Charlie Austin's attitude he will fit in anywhere. He is an archetypal hard-working striker, ready to go looking for work for the team, strong in the air and with proven ability in front of goal with 18 goals - five headers - in the league last season.

    Here is a player who proved himself in a relegated side at QPR last season, performing well enough to win an England call-up. He deserves a bigger stage than the Championship.

    Two months of excitement and desperation for football fans is almost over as the transfer window nears its conclusion.

    A British youngster cost almost £50m, Manchester United were linked with everyone, their goalkeeper had his head turned by Real Madrid, transfer requests were handed in, U-turns were performed and the most expensive footballer in British history jumped ship to Paris.

  20. Ex-Magpie Gutierrez agrees Spain returnpublished at 10:37

    Former Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez agrees a move to Spanish top-flight side Deportivo La Coruna. 

    The Argentine, 32, was released by the Premier League club this summer after his contract expired. 

    Deportivo say the deal is still subject to Gutierrez passing his medical. 

    Gutierrez, who overcame testicular cancer, scored 12 goals in 205 Newcastle appearances after joining from Mallorca in 2008.
