Arsenal and Tottenham
Quote MessageArsenal fans are once again running out of patience with the transfer window. After too many years of coming third or fourth they now have a squad not far off being title challengers. Two or three quality additions this summer would have set things up perfectly. It all started well with Petr Cech but then nothing with the consensus being a defensive midfielder and top striker were the key positions. Arsenal have for many years now not utilised all of their financial resources much to the frustration of fans who pay the highest ticket prices in the game. Transfer deadline days of 2013 and 2014 brought Ozil and Welbeck respectively. A similar boost is required this Tuesday evening.
Tim Payton, Arsenal Supporters Trust
Quote MessageStarting the season with only one striker, Harry Kane, is unfathomable or bang stupid. Either way, it’s left fans frustrated and angry. Son Heung-min’s arrival injects pace and goals into an attack that badly needs both. The summer arrivals of Toby Alderweireld, Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier brought overdue reinforcements to a beleaguered defence. Another striker will be handy but an experienced defensive midfielder to protect the back four and hold the team together is essential.

The last sighting of Paul Pogba in English football was in May 2012 as he helped Manchester United reserves beat their City counterparts to lift the Manchester Senior Cup.

Can they make that work?

Swansea and Watford
Quote MessageI doubt we will see the Swans sign anyone. We have a habit of doing our transfer business early in the summer and this window was no different! Our squad is much stronger than previous seasons and although you always want to see more quality added to the team, the first XI is pretty decent as it is! I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the kids sent out to gain experience but I think it will be a quiet day at the Liberty stadium.
Jim White, Owner of www.SCFC2.co.uk website
Quote MessageAnother quiet summer at Watford has seen us replace our head coach, overhaul our squad and change the playing style entirely. The transition from irresistible force to immovable object appears to be going well, and if successful will be hailed as courageous and visionary though it’s not terribly exciting to watch and feels horribly risky. Several popular figures have already left, but the much touted departure of Matej Vydra with the side struggling for goals would be the most controversial. Otherwise, with the die firmly cast, we can only hope that the club’s priorities – a defensive midfielder, a winger – are recruited and that any further departing heroes are sent to good homes (not Leeds).

Punchy.
Sadio Mane has been linked with a move to Manchester United. Southampton manager Ronald Koeman ruled out any possibility of him leaving after the weekend win over Norwich and the Saints social media team seem to be underlining the point.

Quote MessageI've been involved in three transfer deadline moves. It's never nice being stuck in the middle while clubs are trying to get the best deal for you. I think a lot of players will be turning off their phones."
Scott Dann, Crystal Palace defender
If someone was trying to get hold of me with a contract worth tens of thousands of pounds a week and a matter of hours to get it signed, I might turn up the volume a notch of two. And gaffer-tape it to my ear.
Crystal Palace and Norwich
Quote MessageOne name sums up this window for Palace – Yohan Cabaye. Attracting a genuine world-class talent to the club is huge. Alex McCarthy has been given the task of filling the boots of Palace legend Julian Speroni and has started well. Bakary Sako has taken us all by surprise with two goals in two games. Big-money signing Connor Wickham is yet to score but has impressed with his all-around play and Patrick Bamford has seen little game time after an impressive pre-season. Barry Bannan has joined Sheffield Wednesday and several more departures are expected with only one coming in, ideally Michael Hector from Reading.

Quote MessageThe signing of Graham Dorrans from West Brom looks like a great piece of business; he’s had a solid start to the season. We haven’t seen much of our other two signings Andre Wisdom and Youssouf Mulumbu (injured) as of yet. I like the fact that Alex Neil is putting some faith in the side that got him promoted. However, I do think we need a striker who can put away chances in the Premier League consistently. Another centre back wouldn’t go amiss either.

Sunderland and Newcastle
Quote MessageIt has been slow for Sunderland up until the signing of Fabio Borini. We need two or three more signings to stand any chance of staying up this season.
Keith Charlton, SAFC Supporters' Association committee member
Quote MessageNewcastle's business in the window so far has left most fans pleasantly surprised, with four much-needed quality signings bolstering an improved squad. Georginio Wijnaldum, Chancel Mbemba and Florian Thauvin have all settled in quickly and the attitude in the early (difficult) fixtures belies our early poor league position. However, as recently as the last 48 hours we may have stumbled into a striker crisis. Aleksandar Mitrovic's sending off against Arsenal was the latest and strongest indication of an ongoing temperament problem that may prove costly. With Papiss Cisse making noises for a move, we could be looking at one in and one out up front to address an early lack of goals.

One out of six so far and no Anthony Martial in sight.
Everton and Liverpool
Quote MessageThough the acquisition of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona was a welcome surprise and Tom Cleverley has slotted into the team nicely, Everton’s transfer window has thus far been underwhelming in terms of addressing Roberto Martinez’s most pressing needs - namely a creative “No.10”, another forward capable of also operating down the left, and central defensive cover for the departed Antolin Alcaraz and Sylvain Distin. Relatively unknown centre-half Ramiro Funes Mori is apparently waiting on paperwork before he can officially sign from River Plate in Argentina but, as yet, there are no signs of anything else on the horizon.

Quote MessageDespite a deflating loss at home to West Ham on Saturday, Liverpool’s summer of incomings can be considered a wholesale success. It was particularly telling that Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner were Brendan Rodgers’ two best players in that Anfield defeat. They, along with Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Joe Gomez, look to have slotted in comfortably. Gomez, in particular, has surprised everyone. The £29m signing of Roberto Firmino captured the imagination of the Liverpool support and, while he is yet to truly showcase his ability, he looks likely to become a key player. It looks set to be a quiet deadline day for the Reds, though a new left winger would be ideal. Expect a couple of permanent outgoings and loans, while Mamadou Sakho will be one to keep an eye on.

"Manchester United fans should be pretty excited by Anthony Martial, who has the potential to be a leading Premier League striker. In Football Manager, he has strong stats across the board, especially for pace, acceleration, off the ball, and finishing. FM likens him to Falcao, which might set alarm bells ringing, and he can be bought for around £18m at the start of the game, which suggests the Red Devils might be overpaying for a player who’s still no more than a prospect."
