    Man City 1-1 Juventus

    Pat Nevin
BBC Radio 5 live at the Etihad Stadium

"Mario Mandzukic is onside, his run is perfectly timed and it's a brilliant pass from Paul Pogba. What a ball. He put it on a plate for him.

"Mandzukic had been really quiet up until now. Against the run of play for the second half, Juventus equalise."

    Man City 1-1 Juventus

That sets us up nicely for the final 20 minutes. City switch one record signing with another as Kevin De Bruyne replaces Raheem Sterling. Sterling should have scored at least once tonight.

    What. A. Cross!

Paul Pogba looks up to whip in a wonderful, wonderful ball from the left, Mario Mandzukic only has to make a slight touch and he does to guide it on to the post and in.

Josh Hammond: Mata, what are you doing?! HIT IT FIRST TIME, SON!

James Foster: Rojo's just not good enough. Darmian also uncharacteristically sloppy in this game.

Andrew Morris: That's what happens when you don't take your chances. Manchester United haven't been clinical enough & are being punished.

  5. CLOSE!published at 21:09

    PSV 2-1 Man Utd

Manchester United will wonder just how they trail in Eindhoven. Bastian Schweinsteiger unlocks the PSV defence with a lovely floated pass over the top, Juan Mata is onside but takes his eye off it as he assesses his options in the middle and the ball skips away under his studs. Take that down and it's goal time.

It is very surprising that Vincent Kompany wasn't penalised before that goal. City fans won't care. A win here would make a great start to their campaign.

    Ronaldo's record (for now)

Cristiano Ronaldo has just taken his Champions League tally to a record 79 with his second penalty against Shakhtar Donetsk after left-back Marcio Azevedo was deemed to have handled the ball.

Ryan D'Souza:  Kompany may as well have piggy-backed on Chiellini.

JavelBleach:  Astonishing home reffing! The same ref should be made to make amends in the return game.

Mike Newton Ellis:  Karma, Juventus. Remember Celtic?

    Luciano Narsingh (57 mins)

PSV lead! An excellently-taken goal too. Andres Guardado starts it with a ball down the left for Maxime Lestienne to chase, he whips in a terrific cross on the run, Marcos Rojo gets under the ball and Luciano Narsingh stoops to head powerfully into the net.

Not turning into a great night for United.

    Man City 1-0 Juventus

    Pat Nevin
BBC Radio 5 live at the Etihad Stadium

"I'm not one to hold grudges but I can remember Juventus playing at Celtic Park a few years ago and they got away with the most terrible fouling, time after time, after time.

"There will be a few wry smiles from Celtic fans about that Manchester City goal. The good chances are building up for the home side."

    PSV 1-1 Man Utd

Memphis Depay looking the business in Eindhoven, this time playing a nice one-two with Anthony Martial, but his firmly struck shot is saved easily by goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:01

    Man City 1-0 Juventus

Raheem Sterling is denied again! But again, he should have scored. A £49m forward has to put these away.

Wonderful play from Wilfried Bony to step over the ball and allow David Silva away, he tees up Raheem Sterling on the left and again his shot is tame and easy for Gigi Buffon to claw away. Buffon is then up quickly to save Silva's follow-up too.

Borussia Monchengladbach have made their return to Europe's top competition after a 37 year absence but they have gone behind against Sevilla after a Kevin Gameiro penalty following Yann Sommer's foul on Vitolo.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's night looks to have got a little easier. Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Taras Stepanenko was sent off for picking up two bookings before Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty puts the Spaniards 2-0 up after a controversial decision by the referee. He gave the spot-kick after a Ronaldo shot appeared to hit Darijo Srna on the back rather than his arm.

That's Ronaldo's 78th Champions League goal and puts him one ahead of Lionel Messi.

    Giorgio Chiellini (OG 58 mins)

Manchester City lead! And they have a double dose of fortune.

David Silva's corner from the left is headed into his own net by Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, with Vincent Kompany towering above him.

Kompany had his arms all over the Italian centre-back. Nine times out of 10 that's a foul.

    PSV 1-1 Man Utd

Manchester United beginning the second half firmly in control, with their midfield bossing the ball. But apart from the odd flurry of brilliance from Memphis Depay, or Chris Smalling's careering run through, they have created little.

Yaya Toure has been quiet tonight, and it is a night when Manchester City need their big players to step it up. A very slow and dull opening seven minutes to this half.
