Fernandinho with some early hunger for City as he dispossesses a Sevilla defender on the edge of his own box but the snatches at his shot, which goes wide.

Soon after, Wilfried Bony fires a low shot wide of the post from a similar area.

The CSKA keeper, Igor Akinfeev, is wearing short sleeves. Love a short-sleeved keeper. It either means class or clown. I suspect it's the former in this case. The teams are out of the tunnel and almost ready to go.

  17. City fans boo anthempublished at 19:39

Sevilla v Manchester City (19:45 GMT)

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live commentator in Seville

"They won't blast the music out when the two teams come onto the field but already you can sense the mood of the Manchester City fans. Immediately, as soon as the ball boys brought out the circular plastic sheeting which has the Champions League logo and sits in the centre circle, that got some half-hearted jeers. Then when the big screens gave us the Champions League anthem, the City fans gave us some booing. I'm 100% sure they are going to do it again."

  18. Misfiring Bonypublished at 19:39

How do you replace Sergio Aguero? With great difficulty is the simple answer. City splashed out £28m on Wilfried Bony in an attempt to cope with any enforced absence of their Argentine talisman. But, with Aguero currently injured, Blues fans remain unconvinced about the Ivory Coast striker's credentials.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini and club legend Mike Summerbee have both been defending Bony after home supporters started getting on his back in the narrow weekend win over Norwich.

And here's why they are frustrated. Bony had nine shots against the Canaries, managing to hit the target with just one (green arrow), with six missing the target (red arrows) and two being blocked (yellow).

How does he win them over? A winner in Seville would be a decent start. And not hitting the corner flag with a wayward shot...

  19. Sevilla focus on 'bread and butter'published at 19:37

Sevilla v Man City (19:45 GMT)

We've all heard English players and managers trotting out the old 'our bread and butter is the league' cliche. And it turns out that it is also popular with our Spanish friends.

That's because Sevilla boss Unai Emery has admitted that La Liga, not the Champions League, is his team's pan y mantequilla.

"The Champions League is a very attractive goal but if we don't feed ourselves every day in La Liga we will go hungry," says the 44-year-old Spaniard.

"I am thinking about what gives us our daily bread and that is the domestic league.

"The Champions League is something to be enjoyed but it is here (in La Liga) that we have to win, that is our reality."

  20. The boy from Sevillepublished at 19:35

Sevilla v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Once upon a time, Jesus Navas could not leave Seville because of chronic homesickness. A proposed move to Chelsea fell through and the Spain winger looked destined to spend his entire career with his hometown club.

But he overcame the condition through counselling, and then moved to Manchester City in 2013.

So tonight he returns to the club where he is still adored, having made 393 appearances for Sevilla over 10 years after coming through their youth system.

"Jesus Navas is coming home, but he is playing against us, unfortunately," says Sevilla boss Unai Emery. "Hopefully we will face the worst version of him. I wish the best for him individually but not tonight."
