With Arsenal embarking on wave after wave of attacks, Wayne Rooney had to drop deep on several occasions to try to build attacks. His efforts rarely worked, with lone striker Anthony Martial having the fewest touches of the ball of any outfield Manchester United player, with just 15.

What a first-half of football to watch, Just shows what this team is capable of, they have been sublime.  Wenger will be asking for the same in the second-half. They have been clinical in all areas, they have been hungry and wanted it more"

The referee finally ends a miserable half for Manchester United, but an excellent one for Arsenal.

I wouldn't fancy being in that Manchester United dressing room for the next 15 minutes..

This is a chance though! Arsenal switch off just before the break and Anthony Martial receives the ball in the middle of the area, turns Per Mertesacker and has just Petr Cech to beat, but he shoots straight at the Arsenal keeper, who is straight off his line to close down the gap. 

Manchester United could really do with a goal before the break to at least give some hope of a revival, but it just is not looking likely. 

They are in possession at the moment, trying to find an opening but the Arsenal defence is proving a tough nut to crack. Memphis whips in a cross as half-time approaches, but it is headed away.

Neil Halliwell: Erm Louis, afraid to tell you this...But Ashley Young definitely isn't a left back mate.

Paul Humphreys: When we dont play schneiderlin we look vunerable. Why on earth did he not start against arsenal away from home? 

Luke: Darmain, Depay and Martial look distinctly ordinary when they are finally up against some decent opposition.

Here's a graphic displaying Arsenal's third goal. The attack started down Manchester United's left, where they have been particularly weak today, before Alexis Sanchez produced some trademark magic to see off the visitors' defence and finish from the edge of the area.

Gabriel threads the ball through a static Manchester United defence and finds Theo Walcott, he's offside, but those gaps in the United defence are far too big.

Manchester United subsequently go on the attack, with Wayne Rooney in possession just outside the area. The forward clips a harmless ball straight into Petr Cech's hands...

Arsenal were absolutely rampant in the opening stages, barely letting Manchester United have a touch of the ball in the opening quarter-of-an-hour. The possession stats have evened up a bit now, with Arsenal just shading it but they are very much in control.

Jack: Alexis Sanchez proving once again that he is one of the top 5 players in the world. Right up there with Messi, Ronaldo and Aguero. Watch out City!

Former Tottenham and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas: "Tough customer Sanchez and now Darmian picked up a yellow, Sanchez can pretty much do what he wants now.

Matteo Darmian stops the run of Alexis Sanchez with a foul. Yellow card and that is both Manchester United full-backs on a booking now.
