The two teams are in tunnel at the moment. There was a time when it was almost risky having the two sets of players so close to each other - think Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira.

There is not quite the same level of animosity this time, instead it is all hugs and smiles between Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata. Aww.

Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

"All Wenger is guilty of is overestimating the quality of his squad players. Petr Cech is world class, David Ospina is maybe not. That is the unflinching belief he has in his players.

"The mistakes they made in the midweek game against Olympiakos were criminal. They have to improve in all areas, Wenger knows that and he has to cope with press conferences and come out on the front foot.

"They have an opportunity to go above United."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Pace up front will be important, as will stopping them from counter attacking. Also, win the ball back because possession important. All the ingredients have to be right today."

  7. "Here to win"published at 15:53

Arsenal v Man Utd (16:00 BST)

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal: “We are coming to win here. We have always confidence, we are thinking for a long time we can beat every club. Arsenal, like Manchester United, are an attacking team and you can take profit from that.”

These two sides met three times last season - twice in the league and once in the FA Cup. Manchester United came out on top in the league fixture at the Emirates, Wayne Rooney's late goal decisive in a 2-1 win, but arguably the FA Cup tie was the most memorable encounter.

Danny Welbeck, who came through the United youth system, pounced on a mistake to secure a 2-1 win and send Arsenal into the FA Cup semi-final.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas on Mata: “This year he is there go to man, he is on the right side and is settled out there.

"The passes he plays and  the touches, he is arguably United's best player at the moment. He is their most creative player, there is no one better for Rooney and Martial to make runs off. He finds players with his passes."

"Single-minded managers of the biggest clubs in the Premier League rarely praise one another. These big beasts of the football world are embroiled in such a competitive environment that crumbs of comfort for a struggling rival are as rare as a show of clemency from a hungry lion to a stricken gazelle.

"Kind words are only dispensed when the opposition are deemed to offer little discernible threat.

"That's why Arsenal fans' hearts would have sunk when Louis van Gaal described the Gunners as 'the best technical and tactical' team in the Premier League, and yet one which 'hasn't won so much'.

"That will hurt - and it was meant to."

  14. Is Walcott maturing into a striker?published at 15:43

Theo Walcott is a player in form, with 12 goals in his last 13 Premier League starts. Has he matured into the striker that Arsenal need?

Handily, that is exactly the question BBC Sport columnist Amy Lawrence explores in her feature.

Here's a snippet: "Walcott's confident body language suggests he feels he belongs up front now and welcomes the responsibility. He also possesses a coolness of character which means he doesn't look affected if he misses a chance, and just concentrates on waiting for the next one.

"His performance against Leicester last weekend was full of the kind of movement to stretch defences, sharp runs, and strong interplay with team-mates that outline his case well."

"Lots of things are working well for Louis van Gaal at the moment.

"Manchester United's midfield is very good at shielding their defence and their combination at centre-back of a skilful player in Daley Blind and an out-and-out stopper in Chris Smalling is working well.

"Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger comes into this game on the back of making a big mistakeby playing David Ospina in goal against Olympiakos instead of Petr Cech.

"Wenger will come in for some serious stick if his side lose this game too, but I have a funny feeling that Arsenal will end up winning on Sunday - it would be typical of the Gunners if they do."

  17. 'Bigger game for Wenger'published at 15:39

Arsenal v Man Utd (16:00 BST)

    MOTD2 Extra

BBC pundit Alan Shearer: "I don't think Manchester United are anywhere near how good they can be and that must be worrying for other teams."

Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert: "When you have got someone with speed up there it is a danger and Walcott has got that. Olivier Giroud is more physical but Arsenal don't really play a long ball game."

Journalist Henry Winter: "This is one of the historic fixtures, there have been scraps and falling outs - if any of the players aren't excited by the game they shouldn't be in the game.

"It's a bigger game for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal drills defences and, even though it may look boring from the outside, they are developing."
