Man City 1-1 Everton (Agg: 2-3)

So open, end-to-end stuff! One moment Gerard Deulofeu is stopped inside the penalty area by Fernandinho, and moments later Sergio Aguero is right on the edge of the Everton penalty area and wants a foul. Nothing given.

Everton are lining up a double change...

    'Score in a minute...!'

Manchester City so close to a second as Pablo Zabaleta stands up a little cross to the front post, David Silva heads it across goal and across Joel Robles but the ball hits the post and is scrabbled away. Silva doesn't get many headers but that was almost in...

Apparently Jesus Navas' goal in the first leg was his first in 72 appearances for Manchester City. That's not far off John Jensen levels!

Raheem Sterling then screws a cross wide of goal. CIty building up a head of steam.

Everton have 40 minutes or so to hold on. It could get nervy as Jesus Navas puts in a low cross, Sergio Aguero has a strike from 10 yards out but it hits his standing leg!

What a great chance that is.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 46 mins

Man City 1-1 Everton (Agg: 2-3)

Jesus Navas is instantly into the action, teasing and testing the Everton defence but he can't get a cross in and it's a corner. Everton counter and Gerard Deulofeu is in on goal, one-on-one, a tight angle and he can't beat Cabellero!

It's a poor effort in truth and it could be a big moment...

"The only thing I can think why Fabian Delph is off is that he was supposed to be a defensive midfielder but went out to another Everton player rather than try to block Ross Barkley for the goal."

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2016

Man City 1-1 Everton (Agg: 2-3)

As well as Jesus Navas, City have Kevin de Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho on the bench. So plenty of ammo.

But Navas is on early, he's replaced Fabian Delph at half-time.

It looks like Jesus Navas may be coming on for Manchester City. I guess they could take off either Fabian Delph or Fernandinho and go for it even more. That could then lead to more joy for Everton on the counter, of course.

One thing is for sure, it's unlikely to end 1-1...

Excellent stuff at The Etihad. Everton hold the edge and Roberto Martinez's side could not be accused of sitting back on the first leg lead.

They rode their luck when Sergio Aguero hit the post but City are not tracking Ross Barkley, leaving the England youngster to cause real problems.

City's equaliser means this is right in the balance but the cheers from around 10,000 Everton fans as their team went off at half-time suggests they are happy enough.

I've been impressed with Joel Robles in the Everton goal tonight, on a few occasions he has cut out dangerous passes through thanks to a bright starting position. Will he replace Tim Howard for good?

End-to-end, blink-and-you'll-miss-it stuff. It's a world away from Anfield last night. Ross Barkley is felled by Fabian Delph and now Everton have a free-kick in a dangerous spot, Gerard Deulofeu takes it and smacks it over.

The free-kick is in Yaya Toure range but David Silva takes it, into the wall and over the top. Everton against the ropes, breathing hard and taking shots to the body, hoping for the bell...
