Mat VP: Laughable Bony was linked with Arsenal this summer. What an absolute pile of trash he is! No touch, no pass, no pace, no hope.

Leo The Prodigy: It's obvious Rooney's days on the pitch are numbered. But the way United are playing, do they need him now?

Joe D: Those who joke that Pogba has been playing like Carlton Palmer are doing Carlton Palmer a disservice.

  3. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

Champagne football, with a babycham of a finish! Great play from Stoke as they pick three first-time passes through the United backline, pop, pop, pop and Marko Arnautovic flicks it on to Joe Allen. He's inside the area, gets it on to his right side but can only roll a tame effort at David de Gea.

Will Stoke get a better chance?

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 53 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

The zip and tempo of the start of the first half has not made its way back out onto the pitch since the restart. Stoke win another free-kick in a decent area but this time Zlatan Ibrahimovic heads away solidly. United counter with Jesse Lingard breaking the offside trap but Lee Grant adds to his collection of highlights by sweeping up outside his area.

Ander Herrera then goes in high and late into Joe Allen and goes in the book. Nasty tackle.

Matt Morgan: Paul Pogba looks hilariously average. Anyone watching him recently wouldn't think he was the world's most expensive player.

Charles Kahanji: Antonio Valencia needs to work on his crosses, his judgement is so poor.

Khan Karn: A lucky United win written all over this. Mourinho too good at these...he just brings luck with him I feel.

    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

Stoke are just sitting off Manchester United and letting them have it until they reach about 40 yards from goal, then they press and hunt in packs. It's working - to a point.

United had 12 shots in the first half, with four on target. Lee Grant made four saves.

Peter Malath: David De Gea could have finished writing his first autobiography by now before half time. Spectator mostly.

Richard: It makes a change for a keeper to be playing well at Old Trafford, making save after save and for it NOT to be De Gea.

Andy White: Stoke are doing well as they are in effect playing with 10 men.Bony is offering nothing at all. His body language is very poor.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 46 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

Stoke win an early free-kick, the Stoke of old would fancy their chances here. Manchester United are packed with giants now too though.

Xherdan Shaqiri whips it in, Bruno Martins Indi gets up and it's a powerful header well tipped over by David de Gea.

The offside flag was raised, but that was still a good save.

United have been excellent, particular the movement of Rashford and Lingard. They are having a field day in the final third. But there has been three top class saves from Lee Grant. Stoke are offering nothing in the final third. Wilfried Bony doesn't look fit enough for this level and looks way off the pace. If you get someone on who is a willing runner, who can create chances, then Stoke have a chance.

  14. 'Leicester have the jitters'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

    Leicester v Southampton (14:15 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Leicester seem to have taken to the Champions League as though to the manor born. Beating Brugge was commendable, beating Porto- a side of seasoned European campaigners - was excellent.

Perhaps it's no surprise that their defence of the Premier League is not looking quite so assured.

Conceding four at both Anfield and Old Trafford will be a worry - a win over Southampton would settle some jitters.

Saints started slowly, but have now gone five games - winning four - without so much as conceding a goal.

Just as they should be looking forward to visiting the King Power Stadium with confidence, the allegations made against assistant manager Eric Black, which he denies, are particularly unwelcome.

Spurs have moulded the team around Harry Kane. it's not just his goalscoring, They have built everything around him. He wants to play on his own so he can. It's very difficult for Vincent Janssen to do that.

  16. 'So much to look forward to'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

Tottenham v Manchester City (14:15 BST)

    Simon Brotherton
    Match of the Day commentator

There is so much to look forward to here as the Premier League's only remaining unbeaten sides go head-to-head at White Hart Lane.

This meeting of the top two (prior to the weekend) also pits the league's tightest defence against the most potent attack.

Spurs have only conceded three goals so far, while City have scored 18 in the opening six games.

It is a shame both teams will be missing a key player, with Harry Kane and Kevin de Bruyne both injured, but it shouldn't affect the spectacle as Tottenham seek similar success to Celtic with their pressing game., external

Victory for Manchester City, however, would ensure Pep Guardiola becomes the first manager to win his first seven Premier League matches.

  17. 'The early-season glamour game'published at 12:49 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

Tottenham v Man City (14:15 BST)

    MOTD2

Former Tottenham manager David Pleat: "This is the early-season glamour game, isn't it. Tottenham are defending very well, they've only conceded three goals - two from set plays - and of course Manchester City are a good team so it should be a really good game.

"They're both clever managers. If they both go for the pressing game and try to win the ball early we'll have an ebb-and-flow game. Last year City were a bit unfortunate here, so who's going to be lucky today?

"They way Tottenham interchange their players is clever, particularly when they lose the ball. They pass for fun at times, sometimes they overpass, but I think goals could be a problem without Harry Kane."
