    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

Paul Pogba bursts past Ryan Shawcross and into the area but the former Manchester United man makes a great tackle. I guess technically they are both former Manchester Unietd players, but you know what I mean.

The former Manchester United player who is not a current Manchester United player makes the tackle.

    Ryan Shawcross makes the tackle.

Manchester United were shoddy for the opening 20 minutes against Leicester before coming alive. They seem to have started with a bang from the off today.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 2 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Stoke

Mark Hughes has won one match as a manager at Old Trafford, in 2005 with Blackburn, and you'll get decent odds on a second today.

Especially when Paul Pogba plays in Zlatan Ibrahimovic inside 90 seconds, he's clean through just 10 yards out - brilliant save from Lee Grant!

Zlatan tried to give him the eyes and sit him down. But that was a super save!

A reminder that both sides are wearing black armbands this lunchtime as former Manchester United and Arsenal striker David Herd has died at the age of82.

The Scotland international was a significant figure for United as the club was rebuilt following the 1958 Munich air disaster.

    He also played for Stoke.

Paul Pogba seems a very friendly chap, he has [presumably] one-time United reserves team-mate Mame Biram Diouf in an affectionate embrace as the sides leave the field to get ready for kick-off.

An interesting mix of attires and pre-match consumption in the stands. Some in short sleeves, others in full winter jacket, some eating pies and hot dogs, others still on the morning coffees.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "There is long way to go and there is big room for improvement collectively and individually. We are always worried about the dynamic of our game, our consistency.

"The players are good players but some perform better with the ideas of a different manager and the opposite is also true – some of the boys might be more comfortable with Mr van Gaal’s ideas of football. That is true, that is football.

"We need a player like Ander Herrera though. He is very fast on the transition and can give us the security  against counter attacks.

"Stoke are not a team to be in trouble, good players, good investment and stability at the manager level. When I analyse the opponent I look at their team not the table."

    Stoke City

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes, speaking before kick-off: "It is 40 years since Stoke last got a win at Old Trafford and today would be a good time to change that. We've broken some records like that at other places like Chelsea and got a few results so hopefully we can get back on track.

"Manchester United look more like the United of old this season. Their build-up play is a lot more dynamic than last year, when maybe they were accused of being a bit slow."

Jack Wycherley: Happy to see Wayne Rooney out of the United line-up and on the bench now.

James Kieran: How old is Zlatan? 24?! It's a shame talking about how old is Rooney when you have Ibra in the team every match.

Stick to what you know is a mantra that some live by - and it worked for Antonio Conte yesterday.

After successive defeats, the Chelsea boss reverted to the three centre-back system which he employed in his native Italy.

And he saw his new side respond with a clean sheet as goals from Willian and Diego Costa moved the Blues up to sixth.

"We must follow this with work, work, work!" said Conte afterwards.

    Sunderland 1-1 West Brom

    SunderlandImage source, Getty Images

We've not seen poor old David Moyes smile for a while. But the Sunderland manager almost managed a slight grin after watching his side end a run of three straight defeats.

Substitute Patrick van Aanholt scuffed in a late equaliser for the Black Cats, cancelling out in-form West Brom winger Nacer Chadli's low strike.

It wasn't enough to move Sunderland out of the bottom three, though.

"Undoubtedly we're lacking quality," said Moyes. "We had no forward players to put on - Patrick van Aanholt came on and got us a goal. We needed the three points though."

    Watford 2-2 Bournemouth

Few inside Vicarage Road would have predicted a four-goal thriller - especially after a drab opening half-hour.

But Callum Wilson's opener provided a little spark before the game set alight with three goals inside 15 second-half minutes.

Watford's Troy Deeney and Isaac Success netted either side of Joshua King's deflected strike to ensure a share of the points for the plucky hosts.

"The players have given me a nice present today," said Watford manager Walter Mazzarri, who was celebrating his 55th birthday.
