West Ham in complete control so far. There's audible silence from the home fans as a corner comes into the Everton box.

They break through Romelu Lukaku. He cuts the ball back, Yannick Bolasie hits... blocked. Gareth Barry hits... just over. That was a bit more like it.

Another good bit of work from Dimitri Payet. Everton look petrified of him, standing off and letting him have it his way. He reaches the edge of the box and his low shot is tipped wide.

I can’t remember an Everton player actually being in the West Ham box in 11 minutes.

It’s as if Everton are playing away from home at the moment. West Ham are playing it around the back, easy days.

They need to put pressure on.

That's ugly from West Ham's Pedro Obiang. What a chance he has just fluffed. Lovely stuff from Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet as they link up and it's Payet's deft touch into the path of Obiang. His powerful run sees him one-on-one, running onto the ball on the penalty spot. Challenges come in from either side but he gets the shot off and it's way, way over.

Michail Antonio is certainly the furthest forward player for West Ham. Our initial guidance was he would start as a wing back but that's not the case. Some good defending from Ramiro Funes Mori to head clear an Edimilson Fernandes delivery in the six-yard box.

Payet has been a bit of quality since he’s been at West Ham. West Ham have got mixture of everything you want to see in a football team. They’re organised defensively – they’ve got Cresswell.

They’ve really turned a corner in the last month. Once the strikers get fit again, Bilic will have a squad that he can pick from.

I've just spotted that West Ham keeper Adrian - who has an orange kit on today - is wearing orange tights. Orange tights. I'll leave that with you.

Edimilson Fernandes and Gareth Barry launch into a 50-50. The West Ham players comes out of it clutching his leg and it's an early talking to for the Everton captain.

Dimitri Payet moves gracefully through midfield, the inside right channel. A lovely ball around the back, into the corridor of uncertainty and Michail Antonio is arriving six yards out... superb challenge from Seamus Coleman. Absolutely critical.

Michail Antonio asks for the ball from a throw high up the pitch. West Ham start again, Winston Reid looks forward at the back. Antonio gets it again 30 yards out, he will look for Manuel Lanzini but there's too much beef on that ball and it rolls harmlessly through.

We are rocking and rolling but the ball rolls too far for Kevin Mirallas who chases gamely. Goal kick. A chance for Adrian to get an early feel of the leather on his gloves.

The players stand with their arms around one another as a single trumpet is played, the noise echoing eerily around this iconic stadium.

And then, a puff of the whistle. The air punctured by noise from a packed house.

There will be a moment of remembrance for members of the British armed forces on the pitch ahead of kick off. Some wreaths are places in the centre circle as fans applaud respectfully and longingly.

    A brief silence next...

  17. Lukaku needs support up frontpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Andy Dunn
Sunday Mirror sports columnist on MOTD Extra

Lukaku has to have more back-up on the goal-scoring front.

We’ve seen Barkley score good goals, he’s a good player, a good finisher. People like that should be chipping in with goals. People like Barkley should be supporting Lukaku in terms of scoring goals.

I think there’s that bit of flair missing at Everton at the moment.

Mike: Kinda dreading this game. Not feeling too optimistic, hope someone steps up & drags us through! Come on you blues!

AB: You just know Lukaku is going to score against us again tonight. Nothing surer.

West Ham and Everton fans both seem to be nervous about today's game, and perhaps rightly so..

West Ham came from two goals down to beat the Toffees last season, but Ronald Koeman's side have dominated the all-time meetings with 67 wins to the Hammers' 38.

Romelu Lukaku always scores against West Ham. There have been eight Premier League meetings since the striker first moved to Merseyside and he has scored in every one, including on his Everton debut and on his final visit to Upton Park.
