Ladies and gentlemen, if you've not kept across the Championship, I give you the new svelte Steve Bruce. The new Aston Villa boss has shed some timber.

Today he takes Villa to his former club Birmingham City, where he spent nearly six years up until 2007.

Villa begin the day 16th in the table, Birmingham are eighth.

Yesterday was peppered with stories and questions. Off the top of my head I'm thinking Jose Mourinho woe, Tom Heaton brilliance, Sergio Aguero magic, Jurgen Klopp adventure, David Moyes slump, the list goes on.

Today's fixtures bring together four ambitious sides, so there will be plenty to get stuck in to.

Oh and there's the small matter of a huge derby up first...

Who remembers those days of intense focus on the struggles of David Moyes at Manchester United? Or maybe you recall the many, many difficult questions asked of Louis van Gaal?

Have we reached that touchy pressure point now with Jose Mourinho? Sent to the stands yesterday, it seems all is not well.
