    Watford 1-0 Hull

These are tough times for Hull. They were more solid with Dawson back in the side, but they are in for a tough season.

  2. Happy times at Vicarage Roadpublished at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Watford 1-0 Hull

If Sergio Aguero was on fire, Watford were ice cold in front of goal.

Still, life is so good at Vicarage Road now that they can miss the target 22 times from 22 shots in a match and still win.

Up to seventh in the table, level on points and goal difference with Manchester United, they'll take own goals to win 1-0 week after week.

  3. City 'still the best team in the country'published at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    West Brom 0-4 Manchester City

    Guy Mowbray
Match of the Day commentator on MOTD Extra

Every time I’ve seen City this season I think they are getting better and better.

I think too much has been made of the winless run. They’re still the best team in the country for me.

Aguero was magnificent yesterday. Guardiola’s got him working harder, he’s running back. Aguero is now tracking back - he scored one yesterday, made one and had a hand in everything City did.

Guardiola has got everybody working and doing the same thing.

One frustration today rests with my abysmal decision to leave Sergio Aguero out of the Fantasy Football team this week. Watching him lash in his first goal and then lampoon one into the top corner yesterday filled me with rage.

Worryingly for the world of football outside of Manchester City, the club's manager Pep Guardiola wants to make his talisman even better.

You can take a look at Guardiola's quotes on the matter here.

  5. England's number one?published at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Time for change?

Now, time for a serious question. Should Burnley's Tom Heaton be England's number one goalkeeper?

Yesterday the stopped saved 11 shots as they frustrated Manchester United, seen as the red dots below. He relied on Juan Mata hitting the post once (blue) but let's be honest, Heaton is flying.

He has saved more shots than any keeper in the league my a long chalk and with Joe Hart making errors in Italy, is it time for a change?

  6. 'Liverpool remind me of Newcastle'published at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 2-4 Liverpool

    Alan Shearer
Ex-England captain on Match of the Day

Liverpool have got so many options and they play with a freedom. They stretch teams and their attackers all chip in and are difficult to contain.

The number of chances they create is because of the energy they have. They remind me of the Newcastle team 20 years ago, Kevin Keegan’s side of Beardsley, Ferdinand, Asprilla and Ginola. The one thing that needs to improve is the defence.

I don’t think they’ll win the title race. They’re not winning anything.

You can’t need to score four goals every week - they’re not winning anything for me.

  9. Liverpool 'as good as anything I've seen' going forwardpublished at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 2-4 Liverpool

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Everton and Sunderland winger on MOTD Extra

It should have been five or six at half-time.

How Crystal Palace went in 3-2 down at half-time I don't know because Liverpool were dominant.

But on yesterday's defensive showing, they did show severe vulnerabilities.

But going forward, it was so difficult for Palace to deal with Firmino yesterday.

Liverpool going forward look as good as anything I've seen.

They're great going forward, but will that defence come back top haunt them is the question.

  10. West Ham chairman stuck watching at homepublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Everton v West Ham (13:30 GMT)

Looks like West Ham co-chairman David Gold will be absent from today's match against Everton at Goodison Park.

According to the Sports Analytics Machine, the most probable scoreline for this afternoon's game is a 1-1 draw, so David will need to cheer loudly from home!

We will look ahead to the fixture shortly, for now though, let's see what's being discusses on MOTD2 Extra...

    Higuain hurts Napoli

This is a man refusing to celebrate.

Why? Because he had just scored the winner against Napoli, his former club.

Gonzalo Higuain spent three years there, scoring 91 goals, but now he's a Juventus man and his 70th-minute strike earned his new employers a 2-1 home win. They sit top of the table. Elsewhere, Fiorentina won at Bologna.

    Ronaldo shines for league leaders

There's no danger of Gareth Bale's new deal overshadowing Cristiano Ronaldo this weekend. Ronny hit a hat-trick as Real overcame Deportivo Alaves 4-1.

It puts Los Blancos top from Barcelona by two points and from Atletico Madrid by three points. Both of those title hopefuls won on Saturday too., external

We have three teams locked on 23 points at the top of the table, we have a team who could set new records for the low tally at the bottom, Manchester United are struggling, Jose Mourinho is at war with everyone and goodness knows what Sunday will throw up.

We need some analysis, some proper, detailed analysis.

I therefore urge you to watch Match of the Day 2 Extra on BBC Two at 12:15 GMT. You can also watch it in this live page, just click 'live coverage'.

  15. A City of contrastpublished at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Sunday papers

As if Jose wasn't feeling rubbish enough, the Star on Sunday rubs it in a little further by highlighting Manchester City's success alongside him on the back page.

City are top of the table, Manchester United sit eighth, some eight points behind.

  16. 'Mourinho trying to work it out'published at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Man Utd 0-0 Burnley

    Alan Shearer
Ex-England captain on Match of the Day

Some of the chances Manchester United created were incredible, you expect them to come away with four or five goals.

Tom Heaton made so many saves, one of which was superb, They kept on going, passing it, creating the chances, it just wasn’t working for them.

They looked better when Marcus Rashford went up front, added more pace to the game. That is what Manchester United need to have up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to be asking more questions and going in behind the defence.

Mourinho doesn’t know his best XI yet, he keeps changing his players and formations, still trying to work it all out.

  17. Jose facing a chargepublished at 12:07 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Sunday papers

The Mail on Sunday goes for a similar theme - no surprise. It adds that Jose Mourinho is facing a second FA charge having already been reprimanded for comments made about referee Anthony Taylor ahead of Manchester United's trip to Liverpool.

It has not been cleared up for certain, but it appears Mourinho was in trouble when United drew with Burnley at Old Trafford due to an outburst over a penalty appeal his side had turned down before half-time.

The Sunday express keeps it simple in asking 'Is Jose losing the plot?'

The paper also carries an exclusive stating Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in signing Moussa Dembele from Celtic.

There will be plenty more on Everton v West Ham in the next hour but first a quick look at the Sunday papers.

  20. Opposite oppositionpublished at 11:57 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Everton v West Ham (13:30 GMT)

Coming up today we have a cracker at Goodison, followed by stubborn Southampton against a Chelsea side who could be a point off the top by 18:00 BST.

Lukaku and Mark NobleImage source, .

The Goodison fixture though brings together two sides in very different positions and in very different form.

Everton sit sixth in the league but have not won in four games, drawing two and losing two.

West Ham sit 16th in the league but have two wins and a draw in their last four outings.

So while the table tells us one thing, form means this fixture is very much a tight one to call.
