Femi John Atoyebi: Absolutely brilliant! Hazard is simply unplayable!

AisforAlec: Great start. Saints looking dangerous, but so is Hazard! Come on Chelsea!

Peter Rwakatogoro: Hazard makes it look so easy man!

Andrew C: Done well so far with some good chances. But that goal...really bad defending.

Chances for both sides so far, but can Southampton convert to get back into the game? Have your say at #bbcfootball on Twitter.

    Southampton 0-1 Chelsea

The Chelsea fans are making a real racket after their side's opening goal. But the Saints fans won't being out-sung. They cheer a home corner, which is taken short and ends in Steven Davis smashing his cross into a blue shirt.

Charlie Austin is the Saints player who is picked out by Steven Davis' set-piece, but his head appears to have been replaced by a 50p piece. The ball pings off his forehead and flies well wide.

Southampton have a free-kick inside the Chelsea half after a high foot from Pedro. The home side have some bigs boys - and they all march forward into the Blues box...

Sounds ridiculous looking at the scoreline but it hasn't been that bad a start by Southampton. They've had plenty of ball and are pinging it around at a decent tempo. No penetration yet though.

Southampton try to encourage their team forward, but the home side can't find a way through Chelsea's organised defence.

And here's a stat that will encourage any downbeat Saints fans out there: the team scoring first in the last six league games between these sides has won only one of them.

It’s difficult - that flexibility Chelsea have got to go and run in those channels.

Hazard does Davis at the near post - he doesn’t do his defensive work really there.

Ah. Turns out Claude Puel's inside knowledge hasn't been heeded...

Eden Hazard, the Saints boss' former protege, punishes his old Lille boss. The Belgian latches onto Victor Moses's pass down the right channel, then it is all his own work. He cuts inside Steven Davis, who gets sucked in too easily, then smashes a low angled shot through Fraser Forster's legs.

Claude Puel knows all about Eden Hazard from their time at Lille together. Using this knowledge to keep him quiet will be key today.

Chelsea are out the blocks quicker than a 100m sprinter. Well, not as quick as Usain Bolt. More like Justin Gatlin.

Eden Hazard scampers on to a Pedro pass, checking back inside his marker on the right side of the box with a neat flick. His low cross is met by Diego Costa's outstretched toe, but there is not enough contact to trouble Fraser Forster.

Game on. Diego Costa has the honour of getting the ball rolling. Probably his only touch which won't be booed by the Saints fans.

Chelsea are the only side to have beaten Southampton at St Mary's in a league game in 2016.

Saints have not only avoided defeat since that February reverse - they have won their last five home games in league and cup, conceding only once.

Antonio Conte's Chelsea looked well capable of beating anyone last Sunday as they swept aside Manchester United. Their current run of three league wins without conceding is their best in almost two seasons.

Two of Southampton's players are in the tunnel. They're keen. Now we just need another nine. Oriol Romeu is one of them, the Saints midfielder having a chinwag with his old Blues mucker David Luiz.

Interesting to see John Terry still kicking his heels on the Chelsea bench. I thought three centre-halves and Antonio Conte as manager was supposed to prolong the career of an ageing defender.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, talking to Sky Sports: "Southampton are a very strong team with good players. I know they can play with two systems, so we have prepared two different solutions. We know it will be a very tough game."

Southampton boss Claude Puel made nine changes for the EFL Cup win over Sunderland but reverts back to his Premier League side. He makes just one change from the side which drew with Manchester City in the club's last top flight match as left-back Ryan Bertrand replaces Sam McQueen to face his former club. Southampton's record signing Sofiane Boufal scored in midweek but is on the bench.

Southampton XI: Forster, Martina, Fonte, van Dijk, Bertrand, Romeu, Davis, Clasie, Tadic, Austin, Redmond.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte keeps the same starting line-up which beat Manchester United in the club's last league match. Centre-back John Terry played in the midweek EFL Cup defeat by West Ham and has to settle for a place on the bench, along with Oscar and Willian.

Chelsea XI: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Luiz, Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Costa, Hazard.
