    Southampton v Chelsea (16:00 GMT)

Chelsea have not won four league games in a row since April 2015. A time when the Blues were cruising towards the Premier League title, Branislav Ivanovic looked like one of the world's best defenders and Jose Mourinho and Eva Carneiro were both on the pay rolls. How times change eh?

But a Southampton side finally clicking under new boss Claude Puel aren't going to cough three points easily. They're unbeaten in five, banging in nine goals and conceding just twice.

Hello! And thanks Luke. Just watch yourself on the way out of the building after that dig at Simone Zaza (see 15:19 entry). There might be some stern Italian blokes wearing dark sunglasses and sharp suits trying to usher you into a car.

And talking of scary Italians who like to dress well - it's time focus on Antonio Conte's Chelsea...

    Everton 2-0 West Ham

They are slowly settling in to their play at London Stadium but life is not smooth there as we know. Now it seems West Ham have a travel problem too.

Slaven Bilic’s side have lost four of their five Premier League away games this season, just one fewer than they lost in the whole of last season. What's the remedy? Play at a neutral venue?

  5. Are Cup runs good or bad for clubs?published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Everton 2-0 West Ham

Are Cups good for clubs, or a hindrance to league performance?

Rob Heath: Europa League, League cup; both becoming inconveniences for clubs and hampering the prospects for clubs like West Ham.

Mark Taylor: Andy Murray can play for 16 hours in 7 days on his own. Why can't footballers play for 4.5 hours. Get a grip and stop moaning.

West Ham are through to the fourth round of the EFL Cup after a 2-1 win over Chelsea mid-week, whilst Everton have had the week to rest having gone out in the third round.

If you are just joining us, Everton boss Ronald Koeman has said "we can hope" when asked about the club's link with a move for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

"Rooney is very welcome at Everton," said Koeman.

His full quotes are in the 15:35 GMT entry below.

    These two get along handsomely.

Yannick Bolasie’s assist for Lukaku’s goal means he has now set up four goals for the Belgian this season, more than any other player to another in the Premier League.

Best buds. Lukaku should be supplementing Bolasie's wages at this rate.

Romelu Lukaku now has 50 Premier League goals for Everton. He's just the third man to reach the figure, joining Tim Cahill (56) and Duncan Ferguson (60).

    Everton 2-0 West Ham

Everton manager Ronald Koeman talking to Sky Sports: "It was a total team performance today. Ross Barkley had more impact in the last part of our attacking, not only in scoring but he was dangerous throughout. That's what the team needs. He can be very good, but it is all about knowing what you need to do. Sometimes I have to shout too much, he needs to run more."

On rumours of Wayne Rooney's return: "How likely is it? I don't know, we can hope. Maybe if it happens in the future I don't know. Rooney is very welcome at Everton."

  10. 'One-two'published at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

    Everton 2-0 West Ham

When we think of a one-two between two players in football it's rarely over a 50-yard distance. Ross Barkley's goal was a thing of rare beauty.

The 22-year-old - who was likened to Paul Gascoigne repeatedly by is former boss Roberto Martinez - may have shut a few doubters up with his display today. Who knows? Maybe he did enough to impress Gareth Southgate too.

We keep talking about small margins in the Premier League. You make a small mistake and you end up 1-0 down.

It could have ended up three or four nil in the end. But I think 2-0 is fair. West Ham played well in the first half – they’re getting back waiting for players to get fit.

The goalkeepers have both had a good game.

West Ham actually ended the day having played more passes than Everton. Boy do they need a striker to come to the party though. Playing Michail Antonio through there is not the answer and Simone Zaza hardly looks a threat. Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are both expected back in November and they are going to be welcomed with the widest of arms.

A two goal victory hard-earned for Everton. When you get a victory like that I suspect there’s a feel-good feeling about it.

That wasn’t an easy three points.

"It's a grand old team to play for, it's a grand old team to support..."

The traditional post-match anthem rings around Goodison Park. Job done. It was far from free-flowing from Everton but they pounced when their chances came and I think we will say they efficiently dealt with West Ham here.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 90+3 mins

    Everton 2-0 West Ham

Everton should have a penalty. Idrissa Gueye burst into the box and was about to pull the trigger but Angelo Ogbonna blatantly stepped across his path. Looked stone wall to me, crucially, not to Anthony Taylor.

Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley will lead the man of the match voting one would expect. Lukaku has the ball on the edge of the box and wants to shoot but gets held up. He pauses, waits for the run of Tom Cleverley and picks him out with a deft ball to split the back line. Cleverley shoots low and sees Adrian turn it wide.

Everton needed a win today. No excuses, they had to go out and perform.

It’s something where it’s gotta stop. West Ham first half could have been in the lead.  But second half.. Now we’re at 2-0, with a clean sheet as well.

If it stays at 2-0 Everton will be well happy with that.

I'm just not having this Simone Zaza character. He looks like a wild horse, running aimlessly on a race course with no idea whatsoever of what his goal is.

He fouls Bryan Oviedo and Everton will easily see out the next four minutes of added time. Get yourself out of the Gwladys Street if you're in there and get to the front of the bus queue.
