    Robin van Persie

All four corners of Old Trafford chant his name as Robin van Persie scores against his former club. The Dutchman enjoyed that, and the reaction even more.

Emmanuel Emenike made it with a cross from the left and Van Persie could not miss from a few yards out. At 4-1 up, the home fans give Van Persie a huge cheer when his name is announced. It's an honour not many get to enjoy...

From the half hour point onwards, Manchester United have been excellent.

Juan Mata has pulled strings, Michael Carrick has probed and Paul Pogba has advanced.

And centre-forward Wayne Rooney? He has intelligently run into space and kept the Fenerbahce defence occupied long enough to provide room for his team-mates.

Trouble for Rooney is, Zlatan usually plays there.

Another chance for the visitors as a cross from the right is clipped over and headed wide by Ismail Koybasi. Juan Mata then takes on a great ball from Memphis Depay but can't beat Volkan Demirel.

No hat-trick for Paul Pogba tonight as he is withdrawn for the final 15 minutes. The world's most expensive player is replaced by Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Ah - a poor clearance from the goalkeeper leads to a Zenit equaliser as the ball is quickly recycled and Robert Mak hammers home.

Memphis Depay cost Manchester United £31m but he has barely had a look in this season.

Just 11 months ago one of his former coaches told us that he "will be one of the world's great players."

Andrew Morris; This the sort of performance that could kick-start United's season. As long as Mourinho doesn't chop-and-change... Carrick key

Much more enterprising from Manchester United tonight as Wayne Rooney carries the ball forwards on the counter, he feeds Juan Mata on the right and he just overcooks his cross and Anthony Martial can't reach it.

    Manchester United 4-0 Fenerbahce

A very odd atmosphere inside Old Trafford now. The game well and truly won, the players seemingly unsure of whether to push on for more or not. They are just keeping the ball now.

Fenerbahce then have an attack with Robin van Persie curling a fantastic effort from 20 yards which beats David de Gea but sails wide!

The crowd sing his name and applaud...

I spoke to Jesse Lingard last Friday and one of the questions I asked him was about his DAB routine with Paul Pogba.

The England man said there were a lot of good dances out there and he wanted to keep adding to his routine.

And to think, Alan Shearer made do with a raised arm or two.

All that is perhaps lacking for Manchester United now is a goal for Wayne Rooney, and he's nearly on the end of some penalty box pinball but a blue and yellow shirt hacks it clear.
