Southampton will be disappointed not to have made more of their one-man advantage. That set-piece apart they haven't looked a threat for the last 20 minutes or so. Pierre Hojbjerg goes in the book for a lunge. 

What a chance! James Ward-Prowse with a David Beckham-esque delivery from wide right, Inter play a high line and they get it wrong, Virgil van Dijk is free and alone in the middle but his side-footed volley is turned away by Samir Handanovic.

Can Southampton find this goal then? Brilliant for the first 45 minutes, they've not been at the same level second half but they certainly don't deserve to lose this. 

Internazionale are down to 10 men and Marcelo Brozovic can have nil complaints.

He was booked for a nasty tackle on Charlie Austin earlier and this is even worse, sliding through the heels of Pierre Hojbjerg. Two yellows = red and a chance for Southampton now...

Southampton introduce their record signing for the final 20 minutes or so. On comes Sofiane Boufal for Dusan Tadic. Let's see what the £16m signing has got. 

Inter now flooded with confidence as Mauro Icardi skips inside Cuco Martina with a silky touch and his low shot is turned away for a corner. Jeison Murillo heads the cross over the top. A second Inter goal would surely kill this now...

So neither side were indeed accepting a 0-0. A fine goal, against the run of play, and can Southampton now come back? That's the first goal they have conceded in Europe this season.

The pace of the game has dropped off now, I hope that's not a sign of both sides thinking that 0-0 suits. Southampton deserve to win this.

The Fenerbahce team contains several familiar faces.

As well as former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie leading the line, there is ex-Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in the heart of the Turkish side's defence alongside Danish international Simon Kjaer - who was often linked, but never made a move to the Premier League.
