Will Grigg has been given a run out by Northern Ireland - unfortunately he is far from on fire. He's not even smouldering. Is the Wigan striker the only player in footballing history to have his reputation enhanced by a terrace chant? Staggering.

    England 2-0 Spain

Some neat, one touch football earns England a free-kick on the left side of the Spain box as Dani Carvajal brings down Danny Rose and picks up a yellow card as a result. The free-kick results in a corner, from which Rose fizzes an effort wide from distance.

Time for Mario Mandzukic to go and stick his feet up. The Croatia captain trundles off safe in the knowledge that it is job done tonight.

Kyle Lafferty outmuscles his Croatian marker then tries to dink the ball over Lovre Kalinic. Problem is that the keeper is 6ft 7in. He uses his arms like a cherry picker grabbing boxes in a warehouse.

Spain are working Tom Heaton more in this half than they did Joe Hart in the first, although not by much. Alvaro Morata skips along the edge of the box before attempting to bend a shot to the far post, but Heaton dives on the ball. Ultimately a routine save for the keeper.

A touch under 20 minutes to go.

The shock of the night seems almost certain at Swindon where National League Eastleigh are now 3-1 up with about 15 minutes to go.

Eighth-tier Taunton Town, the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, are 2-1 down at Barrow, but non-league Solihull Moors are still holding Yeovil 0-0.

National League North Alfreton are drawing 1-1 at Newport.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2016

    England 2-0 Spain

Another change for England as Jamie Vardy goes off. He's all smiles and who can blame him. The shackles have come off after he finally ended his long, long goal drought.

Marcus Rashford is on in his place. An opportunity for the Manchester United man to make an impression now. His pace could give this Spain defence plenty of problems.

The thing I hate the most about international friendlies is the amount of substitutes made. A nightmare for any live text commentator.

We're into that stage of the match where managers make changes in quick succession. First, Isco and Alvaro Morata are on for David Silva and Aritz Aduriz for Spain and then Raheem Sterling is replaced by Andros Townsend for England.

A big round of applause for Sterling, he's had a great game.

    Oooof! Pick. This. Out.

Here's why Leicester paid 10m quid for this lad. Shame Foxes fans didn't see anything like this.

Andrej Kramaric picks the ball up about 35 yards from the Northern Ireland goal. No danger. He takes a touch and moves forward. Still no danger.

Then...wallop! He smashes a thunderbolt into the top right corner. Keeper Alan Mannus did not even have chance to blink.

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Croatia

Much better from Northern Ireland. They're having a crack at this. It's like Michael O'Neill has pushed the tactics button on Championship Manager 97 to 'attacking'. Kyle Lafferty has a sniff but a loose ball just runs through to the Croatia keeper.

Jesse Lingard rounds Pepe Reina but the angle is very tight. He attempts to cut it back for Raheem Sterling, but Nacho is there to clear.

The question after this game will be: what have we learned from this game. England are good at friendlies - but we knew that anyway.

Spain have a few injuries. A few have put themselves about but defensively they have looked weak. It has cost them.

    England 2-0 Spain

Under Gareth Southgate England are on course for fourth win in five and a fifth game without conceding. I'd be very surprised if the FA don't give him the England job full time. Surely there's little more he could have done?

They've looked good tonight, particularly when they place with pace. Promising signs for the future.

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Croatia

Sounds a bit daft but... Northern Ireland's shadow squad haven't played that badly. Just lacking a bit of guile in the final third. Maybe Kyle Lafferty can help. The big man glides into space on the left, cutting in before lashing a shot against the now-stinging thigh of a Croatian defender.
