    Barcelona 1-0 Deportivo

The first change of the afternoon sees Deportivo make an enforced change.

Sidnei is replaced by defender Alejandro Arribas.

  2. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Barcelona 1-0 Deportivo

Another chance for Barca as they start to dominate.

A long-range effort from Gerard Pique falls nicely for Ivan Rakitic but the angle wasn't the kindest and he certainly found it too tight with a wildly hit volley that never threatened the target.

    Barcelona 1-0 Deportivo

Luis Suarez shows his frustration at failing to make the most of a half-chance.

He made the opening himself with a clever turn away from a defender but just over-ran the ball and allowed goalkeeper German Lux to clear.

    Barcelona 1-0 Deportivo

Barcelona have Andres Iniesta on the bench, alongside Lionel Messi, and manager Luis Enrique would no doubt like to give the pair some game time ahead of the mid-week visit of Manchester City.

Among Deportivo's subs is ex-Liverpool man Ryan Babel. Remember him?

    Rafinha

It's a third goal of the season for Rafinha and Barcelona have the break-through.

Deportivo keeper German Lux may not be too pleased as he allows an angled drive from the Brazilian to go under his body.

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Deportivo have their first effort at goal - well, almost.

Florin Andone gets free near the corner of the 18-yard box but slices his effort badly wide.

  8. Elsewhere in Europe...published at 15:33 British Summer Time 15 October 2016

    Italian Serie A

Elsewhere in Europe, Edin Dzeko has helped himself to a brace to put Roma in command at Napoli. The visitors are winning 2-0 with 30 minutes to go. Plenty of time for former Manchester City striker Dzeko to complete his hat-trick.

  9. CLOSE!published at 15 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Neymar gets another sighter, this time from a free-kick 25 yards out which he dips just over the visitors' bar as Barcelona threaten again.

Luis Suarez has already scored eight goals for Barca this season but will be disappointed that figure is not nine after that early heading chance.

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Deportivo have conceded only one goal in three away games so far in La Liga this season.

Barca may need to take those chances.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 8 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Barca click into gear and almost go in front.

Neymar hits the bar with a side-foot volley which bounces up onto the woodwork and Luis Suarez heads the rebound over the top.

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Deportivo haven't started too badly. They certainly don't look like they've just come to park the bus with plenty of possession in the Barca half.

  14. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

Barcelona's home form has been strangely indifferent so far but they must be optimistic about resuming normal service today.

Deportivo have drawn their last two league games at the Nou Camp but are yet to score away from home this season.

The last meeting between the two ended in a 8-0 win for Barca back in April.

Another interesting sub-plot this afternoon is the build-up to next Wednesday night's Champions League group game between Barcelona and Manchester City and Pep Guardiola's return to the Nou Camp.

City will have their spies at Barca, while Barca will doubtless be represented at City's home game against Everton.

It is 12 years this weekend since Lionel Messi made his Barcelona debut.

Then 17, Messi came off the bench in the closing stages of a 1-0 win against Espanyol. Since that historic moment, he has helped Barcelona win an amazing 29 trophies. It's hard to imagine what Barcelona's success would look like, and could look like, without him.

As team-mate Gerard Pique put it: "The day that Messi leaves it will be like when your father dies and you realise you have to fly alone."

"When Lionel Messi is injured, football loses."

That's what Luis Enrique said in September when the Barcelona boss faced up to the prospect of being without his star player for almost a month.

But it is not just football that loses, but Barcelona too. Without their little magician they lost to Celta Viga last-time out to slip to fourth in La Liga.

The good news, though, is that Messi is back...
