    Danny Mills
    Ex-England defender on Final Score

It wasn't so long ago West Brom fans wanted Tony Pulis out. The football was boring, they weren't getting results, but now they're eighth in the table.

You have to be careful what you wish for. Having a manager that knows the Premier League so well, they are scoring goals now.

Now Hull fans, I want you to be positive, it is a new year after all. You can get out of this mess. Come on, believe.

You do after all have a magician in your ranks in Robert Snodgrass. The guy is taking free-kicks like Zinedine Zidane and generally playing out of his skin. The Scot has been involved in half of Hull's goals no less. That's six goals and two assists.

Whatever happens, he is unlikely to be playing the the Championship next season.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "We are certainly confident in ourselves. We are facing one of the superpower clubs in the league but the marvel of football is that each match is a challenge for both teams. We want to make it a challenge for them today."

On being 11th in table, nine ponts clear of the drop: "Without a shadow of a doubt, after being written off by everyone before the season started, we would have taken where we are at the halfway point."

  4. 'Pep is not a fraud'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

Christopher Bates: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's resolution should be to sign a quality left back and a leader to sort out the defence.

David Simpson: Pep Guardiola is not a fraud. His Man City players praise for his methods is credit enough. However, PL is a different animal.

Paul Harris: Two games in three days is OK if it's the same for everyone. But when Chelsea get two in five days then it's not fair

Liverpool aren't playing too badly. What's interesting about Liverpool is they will lose Sadio Mane, their top goalscorer, to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Spurs... you cannot say Chelsea have got it already. We are only half way through.

You would be brave to go against Chelsea, they have some players at the top of their game, but you can't rule against anyone else at this time. You can't give them the title now.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman on facing his former club: "Of course it's always special. But we had a really poor game there [in the reverse fixture]. Maybe it was one of the worst of the season, the whole team performance.

"You know if you go behind in just one minute it's always difficult because Southampton play with a lot of organisation. But this game will be totally different."

I would worry about Swansea because of the way they are defending.

They haven’t got the personnel now, so they need to stop haemorrhaging goals.

I think Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough – it could be any of the bottom five or six that get roped in.

Hull have been on a wretched run of results away from home, losing the last seven in a row.

I saw them at West Ham just before Christmas and thought they were very unlucky to lose, but it's hard to see a way out of the bottom three for a side who've won only one of the last 17 league matches.

It has been two years now since Tony Pulis took over at West Brom and things look better at The Hawthorns than they have done for quite some time.

Albion sit eighth in the table following Saturday's comeback win over Southampton.

Pulis' first league game in charge was also against Hull in January 2015 and he'll be happy if history repeats itself as Albion were 1-0 winners that day.

West Brom chairman John Williams says he is "concerned" about the drop in attendances at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies could climb to seventh in the table with a win over Hull.

In a message to fans, Williams adds:, external "The drop in numbers is an obvious cause of concern. But to the supporters who have stood through the wind, rain and shine of another year in the life of West Bromwich Albion, our sincerest thanks."

Kuni Poonasamy: Thought would have seen more changes for Liverpool. Tired legs from Saturday, but happy Sturridge starts

Daniel P Hockings: Nice one Pep, leave your best player on the bench, hasn't learnt that you can lose any match in the EPL.

Paul Compton: Pep isn't as good as he thinks. Managed the best team throughout his career. Total fraud.

Away from the Premier League for a moment because Oscar has touched down in China to a hero's reception from his new club's fans.

The former Chelsea midfielder, 25, was showered with flowers, while fans of Shanghai SIPG chanted "Oscar, Oscar!" as he made his way through the airport.

No wonder Oscar is smiling. Reports suggest the Brazil international is now the world's highest paid player at about £400,000-a-week.
