  1. CLOSE!published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

    This should be 2-0.

It's Zlatan Ibrahimovic again, as the West Ham defence parts like the Red Sea, allowing the Swede a free run on goal.

The finish is not there this time, as his low strike is pushed away by Adrian.

Zlatan has a second bite at it, but the Hammers defence manage to scramble the ball clear.

    Man Utd 1-0 West Ham

Looking at the replay, it could well have been a double whammy for West Ham.

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic clipped in his finish, West Ham goalkeeper Adrian caught the Manchester United striker on the knee with a high boot.

Naughty and lucky to get away with it.

What a goal. What a start for Manchester United.

Fantastic from Wayne Rooney, he takes a touch in middle of the park and finds Henrikh Mkhitaryan's brilliant run.

The run was fantastic and the awareness of the reverse ball was excellent. But take nothing away from Rooney

That's Slaven Bilic's team talk out of the window already.

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2 mins)

    What a start.

Two of the summer signings combine to give Manchester United a very early lead.

The move is started by Wayne Rooney, who plays the ball into the path of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian has not played much, but shows his class with a lovely backheel into the path of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The big Swede takes a touch before dinking a finish into the net.

That's a great strike, and it was a great ball from Ryan Bertrand on the left-hand side. Martinez had no chance. Jordy Clasie couldn't have hit it any sweeter.

    Jordie Clasie (12 mins)

His first goal for the club.

Dutchman Jordy Clasie has a huge smile on his face after this finish, lashing a rocket of a strike into the net.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez had no chance with that.

    This makes the tie interesting.

I don't imagine the scarf seller flogging these near the ground would have thought they would sell many Schweinsteiger's this season.

Amazingly the German is back in the United fold, having come in from the cold, literally tonight, from only a matter of weeks ago when he was still training on his own and written off as a first-team player on the club's balance sheet.

Who knows whether he has a future. He didn't even get to warm-up on Sunday. But Schweinsteiger's CV says he can play - and a chance to play for United and prove himself is all he wanted.

It's not that cold tonight, but heading that way.

The last time Manchester United and West Ham met in this competition, Avram Grant's side hammered Sir Alex Ferguson's boys 4-0 at a snowy Upton Park.

Jonathan Spector and Carlton Cole both scored twice, a result which remains their biggest win in the League/EFL Cup over a Premier League team.

But the Red Devils have lost only one of their last 24 home games in the competition - against Chelsea in 2005.

A big ask for Slaven Bilic then.

A couple of minutes in at the Emirates Stadium, but BBC Radio 5 live sports extra summariser Mark Schwarzer has only just taken his seat inside the stadium.

That's because the former Premier League goalkeeper got caught up in rail disruptions while making his way to the capital from the south coast.

Happens to the best of us.

No chances to speak of just yet.

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic tells Sky Sports: "If we want to progress, you need to put a strong performance in, I hope we do that.

"We want everything from Ashley Fletcher, he is playing up front. When he joined, no-one really expected us to use him a lot.

"He did well in the league game against them on Sunday. He should run, close them down, run in the channels, hold the ball and of course, score a goal."

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells Sky Sports: "It is not the same to not be on the touchline. I tried to prepare the team the best I can in training yesterday.

"We changed five players from the last match, they have made the same. This is the quarter-finals. When you smell a two legged semi-final, everybody tries."

Bonjour. That's about as far as my French goes.

But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Southampton's Claude Puel will be more versed in the lingo, seen as they both come from France.

With the Gunners chasing the Premier League title, this will be a good opportunity for the Saints to claim silverware this season.

But Southampton have been eliminated at this stage of the competition on each of their last seven attempts, not progressing to the last-four since the 1986-87 season.
