  1. Stones holding his ownpublished at 60 mins

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Much will be made of John Stones losing at Goodison Park if things stay the same. He's been one of City's more solid performers some may say. He's completed 97% of his passes and made six clearances - no City player has made more.

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Manchester City pressing now - they have to - and they have a free-kick on the left side of the box. Kevin de Bruyne takes it, but it's poor and straight at Romelu Lukaku, who heads clear. City pick up the ball again but Bacary Sagna's cross is cleared. Everton showing City how to defend at the moment.

Man Utd v Liverpool (16:00 GMT)

Early team news from Old Trafford sees defender Joel Matip withdrawn from the Liverpool squad.

The 25-year-old had not been included in Cameroon's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and the federation have failed to confirm whether he is available to play for the Reds.

"We will continue to work for a speedy and unambiguous resolution," Liverpool said in a statement.

Nick McDonald: City thought they hit the jackpot with Guardiola, when they had a perfectly decent manager in Pellegrini. Hindsight is cruel.

Kevin Smith: Oh Manuel, where are you? Your club needs you.

Daniel Marshall: People need to give Pep time. Sir Alex finished 11th in his first season at Man U. Give him some credit.

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Pablo Zabaleta catches the back of Kevin Mirallas' ankle after sliding into clear the ball. Mirallas makes a bit of a meal of it to be honest, going down theatrically.

  6. No need for keep ballpublished at 53 mins

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Everton have only played 162 passes, Manchester City have 406. Who said you need the ball to win games? Possession is overrated.

Stephen James: Man City have been so average. Can't see any 'philosophy' here to speak of? Deserved 2-0 for the Toffees.

Jaime Dodd: How much time do you need Pep?

Tim Riley: Is this Pep's master plan to avoid the Europa League?

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Claudio Bravo has conceded from 12 of the last 20 shots on target he has faced in the Premier League. He wasn't at fault for the first, but he left a big old target for Kevin Mirallas to aim for for the second.

Manchester City dominating possession once again but Everton are letting them have the ball. They don't need to take any risks now.

I’m a huge admirer of Kevin Mirallas when he’s on his game. So often he disappoints. Today he’s been right on his game. He’s been sensational throughout for Everton from an attacking point of view. It was a brilliant finish from Mirallas. Pep Guardiola’s looking very glum on the bench now.

Yullaw: Welcome to the @premierleague, external Pep Guardiola! Finally we see your weaknesses in a proper league!

Aidan Misfud: Man City prance around passing in their own half. Everton shoot and score.

    Everton 2-0 Man City

Pep Guardiola slinks back into his seat as Manchester City set about trying to claw back a two-goal deficit. If he came to the Premier League looking for a challenge, he has certainly got one.

  12. goal

GOAL - Everton 2-0 Man Citypublished at 47 mins

    Kevin Mirallas

Oh dear, Manchester City concede straight after the restart and I'm afraid poor defending is at fault again.

Yaya Toure gives it away in the middle of their half and Romelu Lukaku pounces before feeding a pass to Kevin Mirallas, John Stones hooks it away but only to Ross Barkley who in turn finds Mirallas again and the forward sweeps into the far corner.

    Any way back for City?

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Everton 1-0 Man City

Romelu Lukaku makes the rest of the players wait on the pitch before causally strolling out of the tunnel to allow Manchester City to get the second half under way.

It's so far, so good for watching Liverpool and Manchester United fans, but City weren't far off a couple of times in the first half. Surely more goals in this half?

Dave, Manchester: City all season - hopeless in both boxes. We miss chance after chance, and virtually every attempt by the opposition seems to end up in the net. Frustrating.

Pete: You pundits will look at Clichy and Otamendi for the goal but anyone who knows football can see it's Stones again. Steps into midfield with the ball going the other way.

  17. 'Everton making it tough for City'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Everton 1-0 Man City

    Kevin Kilbane

Everton’s front three of Mirallas, Barkley and Lukaku are trying to hit Manchester City on the counter attack. On the flip side, City play slightly differently as a front three. Sterling’s playing up front with Aguero, with Silva sat in behind. It’s very difficult for them to get out because Everton are condensing the space. City were certainly on top in the game for long spells in the first half, but Everton are in front.

    Everton 1-0 Man City

Plenty of people of social media are pointing the finger at Claudio Bravo, but I'm not sure he could be blamed for Everton's goal. His defence certainly let him down as Clichy first gave away possession under no pressure before Otamendi played Mirallas onside.

City have now conceded with the first shot they've faced in four of their last seven Premier League games.

Gary Hill: City need a better keeper, Bravo always looks like an accident waiting to happen, defensively they are simply not good enough.

RoboNeuer: City up to usual tricks. Not enough end product for all the possession. Everton deserve lead.

There goes the whistle to signal half-time and there's applause all around Goodison Park - including from the away end. It's been a very entertaining half of football.
