The back page of today's Star focuses on two players who apparently want to leave their respective clubs - Chelsea's Diego Costa and West Ham's Dimitri Payet.

Costa was left out of the Blues side that beat Leicester 3-0 while Payet did not feature as West Ham defeated Crystal Palace by the same scoreline.

The Star suggests both players will be going nowhere in January.

    Bizarre squad numbers

A ridiculous decision by Morgan Schneiderlin, not quite as ridiculous as Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith taking the number two shirt, or Owls striker Steven Fletcher having number six on his back, but ridiculous all the same.

Is it ever acceptable for a player to take a shirt number for a position they do not play in? What's the most bizarre squad numbers you can remember being worn?

Speaking of Morgan Schneiderlin, football purists everywhere cringed when Everton announced the midfielder will wear the number two shirt - usually the property of a club's right back.

“I wanted to give the kit man a rest after putting Schneiderlin on the back," explains Schneiderlin. "They wouldn’t want a big number after that!“A lot of squad numbers had already been taken and number two was free. I couldn’t have 13 because of superstition and, after that, there was 36, 37, 38, which I think is too high."

We're spoilt today. Not only do we have Manchester United versus Liverpool to look forward to, but the first course consists of a very tasty encounter between Everton and Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's side are on a bit of a roll at the moment, winning five of their previous six games, while Everton are boosted by the arrival of new signing Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United. Will he start today? That game kicks off today's football action at 13:30 GMT.

Manchester United v Liverpool: Jose Mourinho & Jurgen Klopp preview the game

The game between these two sides at Anfield earlier this season may have been dull, but this encounter promises to be a whole different ballgame.

Back then, Jose Mourinho focused on nullifying Liverpool but this time it is Manchester United that are the side in form. Mourinho's sixth-placed side are unbeaten in 15 while Liverpool go to Old Trafford fourth in the table and without a win in three matches.

Asked about the game's significance, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: "I hear it when I talk to different people. It's very, very big - but my players know their responsibilities."

It's Manchester United versus Liverpool. It's Jose Mourinho versus Jurgen Klopp.
