  1. 'It will be difficult for Everton'published at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

Everton v Man City (13:30 GMT)

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman on MOTD2 Extra: "It is going to be difficult for Everton - Man City have hit form again. Everton are on the back of a new signing in Morgan Schneiderlin and the crowd should be fantastic today.

"The manager knows Schneiderlin well and what he is capable of - what to do to get the best out of him. It should be a quick and seamless introduction."

  2. Koeman needs patiencepublished at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

Everton v Man City (13:30 GMT)

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Middlesbrough and Fulham goalkeeper on MOTD 2 Extra

Former Leicester and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on Ronald Koeman's role at Everton: "It's going to take some time to change the squad. The squad isn't up to what he wants to have there. Morgan Schneiderlin is the first of potentially many signings. I think one or two more in January and then even more in the summer."

  3. Everton must make it uglypublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

Everton v Man City: (13:30 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Ex-England captain on MOTD 2 Extra

John Stones must not get carried away with the emotion of going back to his old club. He shouldn't do things he has not tried, not to do anything stupid. He is still learning from the manager. It will be a difficult game for him today.

I think the way Everton have to play today is direct. They need to try to make it an ugly game. It will be a tough afternoon for Manchester City if Everton can get the crowd behind them.

  4. Top four? We want the title!published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

Man Utd v Liverpool (16:00 GMT)

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba isn't just thinking about getting into the top four, he believes the Red Devils can still win the title, despite being 10 points behind Chelsea.

"You have to believe," he told Football Focus. "We are not far.

"I know Chelsea are at the top but this is the Premier League, you never know what is going to happen. You have to keep fighting and believing. Inside, I feel we can still win the league."

  5. 'That was the last straw'published at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Dimitri Payet saga

    West Ham United

Former England captain Alan Shearer on MOTD2 Extra: "If it is quite clear Dimitri Payet is refusing to play for the club, you have to get as much as you can and sell him. The dressing room is far more important.

"For manager Slaven Bilic to come out and say what he did, that was the last straw. He had nowhere else to go. When he put Payet on the bench in the FA Cup and put him on at 4-0 down, he was saying 'I am the boss, don't mess me around'.

"When the player is no longer wanted, the club tries to sell, loyalty is a two-way thing. You have to look at your options. I have not got a problem with players wanting to leave football clubs, you are allowed to do that but there is a way and means to do it. By refusing to play is not correct."

  6. 'Loyalty swings both ways'published at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Dimitri Payet saga

    West Ham United

Former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer: "Payet is a commodity, you have to get as much money for him. The players said they had a close knit unit and they showed against Crystal Palace they are together and can win games without him. Then they can bring in players to improve the team.

"Loyalty swings both ways. Players have shown their loyalty - like John Terry at Chelsea. It is still there but few and far between.

"At 40, I had the opportunity to go to Chelsea, having been at Fulham. You cannot compare the two and Chelsea gave me the chance to play Champions League football."

  9. 'Abramovich will not be pushed around'published at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Diego Costa saga

    MOTD2 Extra

Ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer: "All these clubs have players in mind. I think they'll always have a plan B or plan C."

Telegraph football correspondent Jason Burt: "I'm not sure Roman Abramovich will want to be pushed around by the Chinese market. He has spent a lot of money. Sometimes an owner like this may put his foot down. He will not be pushed around. If Costa is going to go, it will be in the summer."

  10. 'If it affects the dressing room, get rid'published at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Diego Costa saga

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on MOTD2 Extra

Chelsea will miss Diego Costa. He has scored goals, provided assists and been the best player this season. It will be a huge uphill struggle to win the league without him.

The story will not go way though. The players have the vast majority of the power, he will leave. If the player does not want to be there, he will go. It depends how bad an apple he becomes, if it affects the dressing room, you have to get rid.

In an ideal world you get the player in at 6am and get him training with the reserves. You cannot do that because he comes into the changing room and in among the players.

  11. 'Depends how bad an apple Costa become'published at 12:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Diego Costa saga

    Chelsea

Former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer: "Chelsea did not miss Diego Costa at all, they more than handled themselves without him. The front three of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian were excellent and caused Leicester all sorts of problems. The questions come when they come up against a more quality team.

"Costa has been excellent for Chelsea, the whole team did not play well last season. If he comes back into the side and scores goals, it will all be forgotten.

"He is a big character, he is always joking in training and if he throws his toys out of the pram, he will be a big disruption. Knowing what Antonio Conte wants, they will not want him around the team.

"On the pitch, he is as fighter, he wants to scrap for everything. Off the pitch, he is a real character among the players. He loves that position in the squad. Who knows? He may come back next week saying he had a back injury and it had all been blown out of proportion."

  17. Cooing like Koeman?published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

Everton v Man City (13:30 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

Starter? Support card? Look beyond purely rivalry issues and you'll see a contest bursting with as much interest as 'the other one' on Sunday.

After Ronald Koeman's statement of frustration following the cup exit to Leicester, Everton have made one with the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin and the promise of others to come.

Whether hope is renewed enough for Goodison to rock and roll depends on how Koeman's side starts against the team he called '"the best team I ever met' in October.

High praise for City, who were back to purring at a poor West Ham last weekend.

Another win here - and then against Tottenham next week - and we might all be cooing like Koeman about them again.

Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery, who has a rare form of cancer, will lead out Everton as their mascot this afternoon.

The five-year-old was mascot for the Black Cats against Everton back in September and news that he would be mascot at Goodison was announced on Twitter. Such a wonderful smile in the below picture and I hope he has a fantastic day.

  20. 'Rose is one of the best left-backs in Europe'published at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2017

    Spurs 4-0 West Brom

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal striker on BBC Match of the Day

Full-backs Danny Rose and Kyle Walker are just unbelievable.

West Brom's Nacer Chadli had the thankless task of dealing with Rose, who is one of the best left-backs in Europe right now.

When you have the insurance of midfielders Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, Rose can go forward.
