Everton have agreed a £30m deal with Sunderland for keeper Jordan Pickford.

Pickford, who is on duty with England Under-21s before the European Championship, is expected to have a medical and complete the formalities of the deal when he returns.

The 23-year-old will become the most expensive British keeper if he completes the move.

Pickford made 29 Premier League appearances last season but could not prevent Sunderland being relegated.

Three at the back is experimental and I think it will suit John Stones - Gary Cahill plays it week in, week out at Chelsea so he will be fine.

My concern is France have so much pace to get in behind those full backs - Kylian Mbappe especially.

If it's not working though, Gareth Southgate can easily change it and put Stones back into midfield and make it a back four.

We won't know for sure until kick-off but the latest school of thought is that England will play a back three, which means Dele Alli in a midfield two with Eric Dier. That is not the way to get the best out of the Spurs number 10 is it?

And you have to go back another decade to find England's last win against France, in France.

Glenn Hoddle's side won Le Tournoi in 1997 after a 1-0 win in Montpellier, with this team playing on the night. Legends everywhere...

David Beckham won his 100th cap in Paris.

A friendly in March 2008 ended with Franck Ribery scoring the only goal from the penalty spot. I'm drawing a total blank. Does anyone remember anything about the game? It was the first defeat under Fabio Capello.

    Here's the England team:

James, Brown (Johnson 63), Ferdinand, Terry (Lescott 46), Ashley Cole, Beckham (Bentley 63), Hargreaves, Barry, Joe Cole (Downing 46), Gerrard (Crouch 46), Rooney (Owen 46). Subs Not Used: Robinson, Bridge, Walcott, Green.

It is a gloriously warm night here in Paris as England's players finish their season with a friendly against France.

Security is tight around the stadium, with several ticket checks and body searches - but supporters are already here in their thousands in buoyant mood as England manager Gareth Southgate hopes to see some promising signs and progress from his side after Saturday's 2-2 draw in the World Cup qualifier in Scotland.

He may well start tonight, but he won't be coming to the Premier League any time soon. I guess.

Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann has extended his contract by a year, with his new deal expiring in 2022.

The 26-year-old France forward had been heavily linked with Manchester United, and said last month there was a "6/10" chance he could move to Old Trafford this summer.

But he agreed to stay at Atletico after the club had a transfer ban upheld.

"The first thing I want to do is apologise to people who misunderstood my statements," Griezmann said., external

"Since I have arrived, I have given everything for my club, my colleagues and my coaching staff."

  15. Young guns?published at 18:52 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    France v England (20:00 BST)

    Kylian MbappeImage source, Getty Images

France manager Didier Deschamps was criticised after that defeat to Sweden - of course he was - mainly for his conservative team selection.

He chose to start with Spurs misfit Moussa Sissoko, and not Dortmund flier Ousmane Dembele. He also left Monaco's men of the moment Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar on the bench until the last 15 minutes.

Oh, and he didn't play Ngolo Kante at all.

Will the young lads tear it up against England tonight? We haven't got the team yet.

  16. Midfield problems?published at 18:49 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    France v England (20:00 BST)

For years all we heard about was England's 'left-sided' problem as successive managers couldn't find anyone to play on the left wing of a 4-4-2. It was enough to prematurely end Paul Scholes' international career.

Now, is Gareth Southgate's main problem a dearth of central midfielders, who can play in a 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-3 formation?

Eric Dier and Jake Livermore played there in Glasgow, while we are set to see John Stones there tonight. Unless Phil Jones plays midfield I suppose.

    John StonesImage source, Getty Images
    Image caption,

Two-thirds of an England back three or the engine room?

But who will play there in the World Cup (presuming England get there)? Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson - if fit? Jack Wilshere - if fit? Josh Onomah?

If England were to emulate Chelsea and Tottenham and play a back three, Southgate may wish to play Dier there. So there is a real gap to be filled.

  17. England's number one?published at 18:48 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    Joe HartImage source, Getty Images

England manager Gareth Southgate insists Joe Hart remains his first-choice goalkeeper - but warned he now faces tough competition for his place.

Hart, 30, conceded two free-kicks against Scotland on Saturday and will not feature tonight.

When asked who was his current number one, Southgate said: "Joe Hart. In the games we've had, he's been excellent.

"That said, I don't want anyone to feel completely comfortable."

Gareth Southgate makes six changes from the team which drew with Scotland.

  19. A costly errorpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    France v England (20:00 BST)

    Hugo LlorisImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham's Hugo Lloris is about as safe a pair of hands as you get these days - but his costly error cost France dearly on Friday night.

In stoppage-time in Stockholm, Lloris took on a striker and then miscued his pass straight to Ola Toivonen.

Granted, the Sweden player was in the centre-circle, but he did manage to loft the ball home to give Sweden a win which took them above France to the top of the group.

    Row Z Hugo!
