Much like love of the late Brian Clough somehow brings together the supporters of Nottingham Forest and Derby County when those two teams meet, Graham Taylor's death will no doubt have a similar effect on Wolves and Villa fans.
That said, once the game kicks off the passions will rise and this derby will come to life.
Let's have a look at the teams...
Wolves v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)
Wolves and Villa fans have the chance to honour former manager Graham Taylor with a minute’s applause prior to kick off.
There will also be a floral tribute led by three of Taylor’s former Villa players, Tony Daley, who he later signed for Wolves, and former Wales internationals Rob Edwards and Mark Delaney.
Daley and Edwards are part of Wolves' current backroom team, while Delaney is now Villa's under-23 coach.
Former West Bromwich Albion academy boss Dan Ashworth, now the Football Association's technical director, will also take part.
Wolves’ press office have worked round the clock to add a four-page tribute to the matchday programme, while the flags at Molineux have been flying at half mast since the news of Taylor’s passing was announced on Thursday.
Wolves v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)
And so, after an afternoon of drama and excitement, we come to our final game.
It is fitting that two clubs - Wolves and Aston Villa - who were blessed by the presence of Graham Taylor as manager, will meet today in the week in which the former England boss died, aged 72.
There will be tears, there will be fond memories and most of all utmost respect for a figure whose presence will be sorely missed.
Elsehwere in the EFL, three newly appointed managers made their bows this afternoon - with mixed results.
John Sheridan enjoyed a happy return to Boundary Park with Oldham Athletic, beating Gillingham 1-0 thanks to a Josh Law free-kick.
Elsewhere, Kevin Nolan's managerial career kicked off with a point, ending Notts County's 10-match losing run with a 0-0 Nottinghamshire derby draw against Mansfield Town.
Justin Edinburgh had a baptism of fire in his first game as Northampton boss, his side were beaten by promotion-chasing Scunthorpe at Sixfields.
It's full-time in every one of our 15:00 GMT matches!
