Great effort by Nathan Redmond cutting inside. It was nearly a fantastic finish.

England again retreating back to their penalty area, but Alfie Mawson cannons a clearance up the park and Tammy Abraham gathers. Nathan Redmond, who came on as a sub for Demarai Gray a few moments ago, fires wide after cutting inside from left onto right boot.

Serge Gnabry has so much space on the edge of the box - is it tiredness or clever movement? Either way England are nowhere near him, and luckily for them the former Arsenal winger, recently signed by Bayern Munich, can only shoot wide. Poor effort.

Serge Gnabry goes in the book for a tug on Jacob Murphy, stopping the England man from darting up the park.

James Ward-Prowse with another chance to deliver from the free-kick. A goal now would do nicely, but his cross doesn't beat the German front line.

Max Mayer pops in a fantastic cross to Felix Platte - who nods Germany in front - no!

I'm about to write what a brilliant goal it is, Platte's header was superbly taken, beaten Jordan Pickford got a hand to it, but the assistant referee raises his flag for one of the most marginal offsides you will see.

England need to get back into this. Germany are sparkling, and showing no signs of slowing down.

Max Philipp lets the frustration of that wasted chance bubble up and boil to the surface, lashing a superb effort from range that Jordan Pickford does really well to swat behind for a corner.

Moments before, Pickford had to dart off his line to deny Serge Gnabry, who with a better touch might have had an easy chance to score.

Germany are knocking on the door. Loudly. Clattering that letterbox.

Max Philipp is played in behind England lines but snatches at his finish - low and wayward past Jordan Pickford's far post.

Was it wise to retreat so deeply? England have handed all the momentum to Germany. They are looking very slick once more.

It was Mason Holgate picking up Platte - a big lump of a boy - and it was met with a very firm header. Jordan Pickford had no chance. England conceded a similar goal against Slovakia. England are naive at blocking these headers. Can they respond?

England finally get up the pitch to threaten the German goal, it's with Jacob Murphy, playing down the right flank. But the sub can't quite summon his best, running the ball out of play.

Serge Gnabry hasn't done much to impress the many fans who will have last seen him not quite cutting it at West Brom. Apologies if he goes on to twine the whole England team and score now.

Mason Holgate reads him like a book, telegraphing his cut-back from the left wing to win possession. He's all about the right boot seemingly, Gnabry.

A change for England now.

Nathaniel Chalobah is struggling, he's holding the front of his thigh. Could be a muscular ailment. Jacob Murphy, usually a winger or forward for Norwich, comes on to replace him.

This could see England switch about a bit. Although Murphy has also played at right-back. Talk about versatile - give him the gloves and he'll probably do a job.

Yannick Gerhardt absolutely smashes a volley, towards goal but blocked by an England midriff. Thunderous contact. Serge Gnabry gets to the line and crosses, but Aidy Boothroyd's side again fence it away.

Davie Selke - Germany's scorer, is withdrawn, Darmstadt striker Felix Platte is on in his place.
