England 0-0 Germany
A flash of pace takes Davie Selke past Calum Chambers in the box, but the Arsenal defender does really well to cover back. Had he not, Selke might have had a clear sight of goal.
Excellent recovery.

Good advantage by the referee but it is a booking for Will Hughes. He's a not a real cruncher - he does not go to smash people.

Mat VP: Ward-Prowse is such a good dead ball taker. Something the senior team badly need.
England 0-0 Germany
Looking at the replay, Gideon Jung did play the ball in that challenge on Will Hughes. He's looking good, Watford fans.
Oh hang on. Yellow card for the Hornets new signing - a fair decision too. That's a late sliding challenge always in reach of the ball.
England 0-0 Germany
England should be 3-0 up.
There's a lovely take from Will Hughes in midfield, he ghosts towards goal, feeds Demarai Gray with a disguised pass, the keeper comes out to narrow the angle and Gray is denied - twice, with the rebound stopped too.
Then Hughes looks to reach the loose ball in the box and it looks like he's sent flying - but again the ref says no pen. Goal kick? Surely a corner at least!
This is such a great start. We just need an actual goal.

The German marking for once was horrific. Two early misses for England. Will they rue them?
England 0-0 Germany
Ben Chilwell driving down the left now. Bold. Strong. Jeremy Toljan is forced to concede a corner - England's second already.
Captain James Ward-Prowse lofts it in, Nathaniel Chalobah rises well, he's alone, can smash it home... Over the bar! That is a huge chance. A golden one missed.
England 0-0 Germany
Will Hughes tricks his way past four men in the Germany box, he gets to the line, cuts back across goal for Tammy Abraham to tap in, but Gideon Jung gets a big boot on it to clear away. Fantastic early opening for England.

That looked accidental but I've seen those given and for a few horrible second I thought the referee was going to point to to the spot.
England 0-0 Germany
Risky! Calum Chambers cuts across Davie Selke as he tracks the German striker in the box - Selke goes down, arms up in appeal, but the referee waves his protests away.
Chambers is a tad lucky there - you see them given, as the saying goes.
England 0-0 Germany
Mason Holgate fluffs his first touch out of play but England sneak back into possession and Calum Chambers hits an ambitious long ball looking for Lewis Baker. He's got pace the lad - but the German defence shepherds the danger away.

It's do or die - death or glory. The way England are playing, they have gained momentum. They have got phenomenal pace in the team.
England 0-0 Germany
England are 90 minutes, or 120 minutes, or (gulp) penalties, away from a fourth youth final of the summer.
Away we go!

This time last year, English football was reeling at Euro 2016 after the senior team were humiliated and humbled by Iceland.
The date - 27 June 2016 - will always be a haunting reminder of arguably England's worst-ever defeat.
One year later, the Football Association can reflect on genuine shoots of recovery, with the under-17s reaching their Euro finals, external and the under-20s winning the World Cup in South Korea.
Regardless of what happens here in Poland, the under-21s have made solid progress after three previous Euro exits at the group stage.
They are taking charge at crucial times of matches and Boothroyd has praised their superb game management during the tournament.

Germany are very good. They sailed through their qualification group and beat England last time out in March. It's a very versatile side and there is great strength in depth and experience.
England have reached the Under-17 World Cup final, won the Toulon tournament the last two times and won the Under-20 World Cup. So from the 17-21 age group it looks very, very good but it's all about making that next jump.
There's still a lot of work to do for these players to get in the senior team.
