What a fantastic conversion! The chance came her way through a deflection but she has that heightened awareness to be on the last shoulder and she took it brilliantly.

Two shots, two goals for England.

    Smash. And. Grab.

England have surely won the game!

It's a neat move, it's a clever flick from Jordan Nobbs, it's a good run into the box from Jodie Taylor and it's a really, really calm finish!

Taylor has her fourth goal of the tournament and England are closing in on two wins from two.

    England 1-0 Spain

Millie Bright launches a free-kick into the Spain area from deep, and it finds Jill Scott on the right, way out, but her downward header can't find an England teammate in the middle.

    England 1-0 Spain

Anyway, after all that confusion, England have another seven minutes plus stoppage time to hold on for what would be a precious, precious win at the Euros.

A second win from two games would all but seal their place in the quarter-finals, and go a long way towards seeing them win the group too.

The current scoreline would also extend Scotland's stay in the tournament for at least another game, if not more.

Can't believe anyone thought that should be a penalty against @ellsbells89, external. Can't give it when it's come off another part of the body. Ref?!

As seems to be the argument that the England players made to the referee, the ball popped up off Ellen White's thigh before hitting her on the arm.

  6. SUBSTITUTION (England)published at 79 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

Perhaps before any more Spain players can ask her if she just handballed it in the area or not, Ellen White is taken off.

On comes new Barcelona striker Toni Duggan, to play against some of her new teammates.

  7. Postpublished at 78 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

Well, in the interests of balance here (although two wrongs don't make a right) England had a clear second goal unfairly ruled out for 'offside' in the first half... So let's call it even Spain, shall we... Yes?

  8. 'No penalty'published at 77 mins

You're told not to argue as the referee never changes her mind.

    Well, she just did!

  9. 'You can't do that!'published at 77 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

    Jonathan Pearce
    5 live commentator

I don't think you can do that! The referee has changed her mind! The Spanish bench are furious, I have not seen anything like that before!

  10. NO PENALTYpublished at 76 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

Hold on a minute, it's not been given.

It looked for all the world as though the referee had pointed to the spot after Ellen White slipped in the area and accidentally handled the ball, but no.

    Spain are baffled.

  11. PENALTY (Spain)published at 75 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

    Chance for Spain to level!

  12. Postpublished at 74 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

For all their possession, Spain are going to be worried. They're yet to really force Karen Bardsley into a save.

  13. SUBSTITUTION (Spain)published at 73 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

Barcelona's 25-year-old striker Olga Garcia is coming on for Spain, to replace former Arsenal Ladies midfielder Vicky Losada.

Losada - who won the Women's FA Cup with Arsenal in 2016 - has had a decent game for Spain tonight.

  14. Postpublished at 70 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

It looks like Izzy Christiansen is slotting in on the left side of midfield, and striker Ellen White is vacating that role to move into a more central position.

  15. SUBSTITUTION (England)published at 69 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

Manchester City's Izzy Christiansen comes on for England, for her first appearances at a major tournament.

Off goes Chelsea striker Fran Kirby, who put England ahead inside two minutes.

So England have four recognised midfielders on the pitch now.

  16. YELLOW CARD (Spain)published at 68 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

England get some brief respite from the Spanish onslaught as Jodie Taylor is fouled on the halfway line and Andrea Pereira is booked for the challenge.

Nick Locke: England just can't keep the ball. 3pts here will be a very good result. Dare I say harsh on Spain?

England need to wake up! They are on the back foot and getting caught out, mentally and physically they are being ground down. They are chasing the ball, they look tired and they need to be dragged forwards.

    Switch on!

    England 1-0 Spain

Spain flick a high through ball over Lucy Bronze and Steph Houghton's heads, towards Jennifer Hermoso, in to the area, and keeper Karen Bardsley comes out to deal with it but she doesn't make great contact with the ball and it's a corner to Spain.

But England deal with the set-piece well again.

Will Mark Sampson make a change soon?

  20. Postpublished at 62 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

England look to be in trouble for a split-second as Amanda Sampedro momentarily gets in behind Demi Stokes at the bye-line, but the England and Man City left-back does very well to scamper back and win the ball back.
