No walkover this one and it's raining so unpredictable. Spain are good but so are we, so it will be close.

If Steph Houghton had kept her head over that ball it's a goal. Lovely play again from Fran Kirby though.

At the other end England need to get hold of Vicky Losada, she is drifting inbetween the lines and starting to run the game for Spain.

    England 1-0 Spain

Spain get players forward for a free-kick and it falls nicely for Alexia Putellas on the edge of the area but her low shot bounces straight to Karen Bardsley in the England goal.

  4. Postpublished at 12 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

England play the corner short and Fran Kirby beats her marker to skip in to the area.

She squares it and it falls to Steph Houghton in space in the middle, but she blazes over the bar.

That was a good opportunity for a second for England.

Well the confidence in this England team is obvious. They have so much belief at the moment.

Spain are on the back foot.

  8. DISALLOWED GOAL - Englandpublished at 6 mins

    England 1-0 Spain

England think they've made it two... But it's been adjudged to be offside!

Jordan Nobbs' deep free-kick in to the box is headed into the far corner by Millie Bright, but the officials say no!

The replays suggest she was onside. Not even close. That's harsh.

What a calm, composed finish! England's movement from their front three unlocked Spain. What a great response to a bit of a shaky start from England.

Fran Kirby is in the form of her life, she has had injury worries but is flying now.

But what a start for England! Nerves? What nerves?!

Fran Kirby gives England the lead inside two minutes. They can't stop scoring.

It's a crisp finish from the Chelsea striker. Birmingham City's Ellen White slips her in behind the Spain defence and she finishes so calmly.

Goodness me England were lucky there! Steph Houghton lost her footing in a critical zone and she should have hit the target!

    A let-off for England, 100%.

    England 0-0 Spain

Goodness me, there's a bit of hesitation on the wet surface from England captain Steph Houghton, and Vicky Losada should hit the target for Spain, from the edge of the area, but she shoots wide.

England are a tad lucky there. A nervy start.

One for the die-hards tonight. Like a wet weekend in Salford. So much so, that they had to re-paint the lines before the warm-ups.

England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley won't need reminding that it was her error which cost the Lionesses a draw at Euro 2013 and handling will be treacherous tonight.

And it's worth stressing that the winner of England and Scotland's group (Group D) will face the runner-up from Group C in quarter-finals, and vice-versa.

France, Austria and Switzerland will be watching on tonight with much interest.

Victory for England or Spain in Breda would go a long way towards seeing them win this group.
