    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

    Amy MacBeath
    BBC Scotland Sport in Rotterdam

There was a real buzz about the side after Erin Cuthbert's goal, accompanied by a rendition of Flower of Scotland. But Ana Leite's goal for Portugal put a damper on it once again and they are managing to frustrate the Scots. They urgently need to come up with something to keep any hope of fulfilling their Euro 2017 ambitions of progressing from what is a very tough group, alive.

  2. YELLOW CARD (Portugal)published at 87 mins

    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

Portugal keeper Patricia Morais is booked for time-wasting.

They're desperate to wind down the clock now and see out this win.

Scotland need a goal. There are around three minutes left plus stoppage time.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 86 mins

    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

So unlucky for Scotland! Liverpool's Caroline Weir smacks the bar from around eight yards out! The keeper was beaten.

It was great work from Erin Cuthbert to set up the chance, but Weir just couldn't quite keep it down enough.

    Quote Message

I think we have gone to a 3-5-2 and I think Caroline Weir has been pushed up alongside Erin Cuthbert for the remaining minutes

    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

Portugal have three on two, but Suzane Pires' shot is blocked wide for a corner.

The resulting delivery is played short, and eventually presents a chance for Ana Leite, but she fires well over the bar from the edge of the area.

  6. SUBSTITUTION (Scotland)published at 81 mins

    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

Scotland boss Anna Signeul's final throw of the dice for today is to bring on Joanne Love for Rachel McLauchlan.

Back to matters in Rotterdam though, where Scotland need a goal or they'll be almost certain to be heading home at the end of the group stages.

They've got 10 minutes left to save their campaign, or rely on results elsewhere to keep them in the Netherlands.

A 6-0 loss to England - who have far greater resources at their disposal - was no disgrace for Scotland, but they'd be extremely disappointed to lose to Portugal, who are the lowest-ranked team in the whole tournament.

    Breaking

    England v Spain (19:45 BST)

Meanwhile, England boss Mark Sampson names an unchanged team following the thrashing of Scotland. He's mentioned that he has a different plan against Spain, but after beating Scotland 6-0 it would have been harsh to have dropped anyone from that opening game.

So Jordan Nobbs and Lucy Bronze continue down the right side, a massive strength for the Lionesses.

England XI: Bardsley, Stokes, Houghton, Bright, Bronze; Moore, Scott; White, Kirby, Nobbs, Taylor.

    Scotland 1-2 Portugal

Can Scotland battle back again? They have just over 15 minutes to do so.

A defeat would leave Scotland needing England to beat Spain tonight, or they'd be out.

    Ana Leite

She's only just come on! Scotland trail again.

Leverkusen's Ana Leite restores Portugal's lead as she races clear, latching onto a long ball that the Scots simply didn't deal with, and slots a low finish beyond Gemma Fay.

That's her first senior international goal from her 44th cap. And it could spell disaster for Scotland.

  13. SUBSTITUTION (Portugal)published at 70 mins

    Scotland 1-1 Portugal

Scotland's joy is almost short-lived, but Carolina Mendes shoots just wide down the other end for Portugal.

Moments later, first-half goal scorer Mendes is replaced as Portugal make their first substitution. Ana Leite comes on.

The teenage Chelsea Ladies star plays a neat one-two with Caroline Weir and tucks a really smart finish into the bottom far corner.

Delight for Scotland! That's their first ever goal at a major women's tournament!

  15. SUBSTITUTION (Scotland)published at 67 mins

And that's Fiona Brown's last act of the game, as she is replaced by Glasgow City's Hayley Lauder.

Scotland get the ball out wide and Fiona Brown plays in a dangerous-looking cross, but the keeper just gets there first ahead of Erin Cuthbert.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

At the other end, substitute Erin Cuthbert beats her marker at the bye-line and plays in low cross, but Leanne Crichton's shot blazes over the bar.

That was better from the Scots though.

Portugal break quickly through Diana Silva but she overhits her cross.

It comes back into the area and, after a bit of pinball, Scotland eventually clear the danger.

But they look mightily nervous at the back at times.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Scotland win their first corner of the game, but as the ball swings in, the referee is unhappy with some contact in the middle on the Portugal keeper, so it's a free-kick against the Scots.
