    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

There is a slight spring in Portugal's step now, after that slightly fortunate opening goal.

Carolina Mendes' sharp finish is their first ever goal at a major women's tournament, so no wonder their fans are delighted.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Fiona Brown does really well down the left for Scotland, escaping two challenges, but her low cross is cleared.

It comes out as far as Rachel Corsie, but her ambitious strike from range flies wide.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

They've been on top, but Scotland are in big trouble if this scoreline stays the same.

Yes, there's a long way to go in this game, but two defeats from two would leave them needing favours from England, just to keep them in this tournament.

Should Portugal win this, a draw between England and Spain tonight would eliminate the Scots. That's the predicament they're in.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Scotland respond positively to going behind, and force a free-kick around 10 yards outside the Portugal penalty area, but it's defended well.

The Scots make a mistake at the back and Portugal pounce!

It's completely against the run of play. Portugal's Diana Silva breaks down the left wing and sends over a relatively tame cross, but Vaila Barsley makes a real hash of it, missing her clearance, and Carolina Mendes can't believe her luck - she's left with the simple task of tucking in from around eight yards.

  6. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Scotland's Caroline Weir causes Portugal all sorts of problems again in their own penalty area, and Lana Clelland has a chance at the far post again - unmarked - but this time the ball bounces up and hits her on the arm, and it's handball. Chance gone.

But again, it's encouraging stuff from Scotland.

That's the best bit of fancy dress I've seen from any fans in years. Bravo.

Portugal captain Claudia Neto sends a free-kick into the Scotland penalty area but Vaila Barsley jumps highest to head clear for the Scots.

We're seeing a more confident, assured side this evening compared to Scotland's opener against England. There have been a couple of changes at the back since then, with Hibernian full-back duo Rachel McLaughlan and Kirsty Smith pushing up the pitch and lone striker Lana Clelland getting chances on the ball and threatening a couple of times already.

They'll be disappointed not to be ahead but, nevertheless, these opening 20 minutes have been very encouraging for Scotland.

They're in control of possession and creating all the goalmouth openings so far.

  11. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

How has that not gone in?! Scotland should be ahead.

Caroline Weir's low strike is palmed out straight to Lana Clelland, six yards out, in space... And she places it straight back at the keeper first and then - from a second rebound - she hits the outside of the post!

That is a huge chance and Clelland hasn't taken it. She couldn't quite get either shot away cleanly.

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

All Scotland's moves seem to be coming from down their left flank so far. That seems to be a clear strategy from Anna Signeul's side.

  13. Scotland full-backs working wellpublished at 14 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Former Scotland captain Julie Fleeting: "It has been the substitutions from the previous game that have set the tempo of the game. Our two full-backs (Rachel McLauchlan and Kirsty Smith) are getting forward and Lana Clelland is showing some great footwork going down the line and making some great runs in behind."

  14. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

It's a low-tempo start so far in Rotterdam, but Scotland are showing the greater intent going forward.

Lively striker Lana Clelland, cutting in front the left, strikes at goal from range but her effort swerves wide across the face of goal.

  15. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Scotland are keeping possession, just trying to settle in to the game.

From a confidence point of view, the first goal could be even more crucial than normal this afternoon, with both sides having lost their opening games.

  16. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Portugal get forward for the first time and former Chelsea Ladies full-back Ana Borges wins their first corner.

But Scotland defend it well and quickly break through Lana Clelland, but Kirsty Smith doesn't have many up with her in support and the move breaks down.

  17. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Both sides are making their major tournament debuts this summer, having qualified for the first time.

Progression to the knockout stages, from a tough group containing England and Spain - who both have far greater tournament experience - would be a huge achievement.

  18. YELLOW CARD (Portugal)published at 2 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Portugal

Scotland's Lisa Evans wins a free-kick after Lana Clelland's good flick and a very early yellow card is shown to Portugal defender Carole Costa.

The resultant free-kick, from just on the right-hand side of the box, hits the wall and is then blazed wide.

You have to give credit to the Dutch. They are making a big deal of the game days. The atmosphere inside the stadium is good. The capacity is 11,000, although there are only about 3,000 here
